YakovAh, didn't see that. Still, even if the price isn't 180$ the Sound Blasters are basically a Cloud 2 with different branding but costs 30$. They aren't exactly the same but they have a lot of similarities.
VayrakVayrak, while the H5 shares a similar yoke and whatnot to the Cloud II ( see my posting earlier in the comments for our design philosophy on the H5 / H7) , it's a very different headset from the Cloud II in sound profile and overall acoustic design in general. Different drivers, acoustic baffling, etc. There's a lot going on under the hood in the ear cups. Couple it with the G1 and it's a different beast entirely. Powered by a more powerful amp and a lot of differentiating features like X-Plus which allows you to configure the G1 with a profile and it stays loaded on the USB device without need to load drivers anywhere else. I definitely see though how at first glance it's pretty easy to point out similarities...but we're definitely proud of the differences =)

DigitalRonynAre you from Creative? Because if you are I really can't believe you because you might be bias towards Creative. Anyways, assuming that what you told me is the truth, I never really meant that they have the exact same sound stage, design, etc. but they share the same kind of feel. I would still get the Clouds as you save money. As for the G1, that's a whole story entirely. I'm not going to talk much about that seeing as I don't know much about that sound card in particular or even sound cards in general.
VayrakYep I am from Creative (and have always been open about that fact here) . I'm a product manager for the line and can confirm there are several differences between the headsets. There's really no point in this day and age to bring a "clone" product to market and expect "branding" to be the only difference. Today's customer is just too savvy for that. We had a vision for the headset that we felt would live up to our audio legacy and the H series chassis is the culmination of that vision (I posted those details in an earlier comment). I guess you could say that I am biased since I work for the company but please note that nowhere in my comments have I compared the quality of the headsets or their features... I'm just pointing out that because there are some similarities in physical design that does not make the headsets a copy of each other. There are proven designs that are time tested and deliver durability and performance. Our line has been designed from the ground up with that at the core. We've got a pretty big legacy to live up to (we just crossed 500 million Sound Blasters sold) so "getting it right" with this line was very important to us... Especially with so many other options available to the market nowadays.

DigitalRonynThanks for contributing to this thread! If you have the time, I was wondering if you could briefly tell me the differences between the H5 and the H7. I really want to make an informed choice about this drop. Thank you!
veryearlybirdyHey there! The largest difference between the two is the addition of the USB control pod for the H7. And then there is the illumination on the ear cup (the Blaster X X) and the yoke portion of the H7 is black versus the deep silver of the H5.
We conceived the G1 as a way for people who bought the H5 as an analog headset and then later decided they wanted a USB connection to get the same feature set as the H7 with a USB connection.
This combo actually gives you the flexibility of having the G1 separate so you could use it with other headphones or in-ears if desired as well.
Acoustically they are identical in physical design.
Hopefully this helps you out!
