can an external 3.5mm mic be plugged in to the device and distributed via the miniusb?
you can plug in an external 3.5mm mic but what do you mean by "distributed via the miniusb?"
can i plug the mini usb to usb to my pc and get the mic signal
The mic will register as a recording device and not payback through the headphones.
You can monitor the mic through the headphones if you like. There are setting in the E-series control panel to support this if you like.
Yes indeed. You can even monitor the microphone through the headphone jack at the same time you are recording the signal in your pc.
You can also apply any of the DSP effects (echo cancellation, noise cancellation, etc) but the recording will be in MONO. With effects off you get a STEREO recording from two of the three mics, depending on orientation.
You can also monitor a LINE IN signal.
In fact, I haven't tried this but I'm pretty sure you can record the BLUETOOTH signal coming in to the unit. (I'll confirm this later)
Keep in mind, the analog to digital converter in this device is of very good quality and capable of 24/96 recording with high signal to noise ration (119db)
There are few things it cannot do... amazing stuff! (i.e. decode dolby digital)
Yes very true, but not enabled by default in the E5 Software. Plus there is a bit of a lag issues with the playback and SBX enabled.
