I am in Canada and just bought this from Amazon a month ago for $359... I had to use a private broker to import it into Canada to avoid heavy shipping prices and duties... After I bought it, it dropped to $299 and then went on sale on Amazon.ca as well.. what a frustration to see it drop in price everywhere just after.....
All that being said, this thing is a beast. It really does have AMAZING sound quality, rivaling many other higher end machines. Cant really say anything about the Joutunheim... The real value of this comes from its surround sound capability. If you are a gamer and want to have surround capability, this is where the buck stops. If you are happy with stereo, there are other more affordable options. I bought this to use with my PS4 and later with my PC since it can have multiple devices connected to it. It really is one of only 3 headphone DAC/AMP devices that can decode DolbyDigital 5.1 (others are by astro or turtle beach and both of those sound awful). Don't forget that you can swap out the OpAmp in this to change the sound signature and drastically improve its SQ.
If you are reading reviews for this and seeing people giving it 3 or 4 stars out of 5, just remember that many are framing their reviews around monetary value of purchase. Yes, it is expensive but it really is a unique offering.
If you are on the fence about this thing, don't be. You wont regret it. (Be aware, in order to use mic input with a console, you will need to separately purchase a BT-W2 Bluetooth dongle)

TechCityOh wow.. I just saw it on Amazon.ca two weeks ago for $459 and free prime shipping. They must have sold out.. Amazon.com will ship it to Canada but shipping is around $130usd (ugh). I bought mine for $359usd and had it prime shipped to a private broker called Seawings (for Vancouver Island, BC). I had to pay US taxes (35usd), import (18cdn) and Canadian taxes (60cdn). Bt-w2 adapter was $40usd. All told I paid a little over $600cdn for this stuff. International shipping is a ripoff. $299 is a steal for this thing.
Be aware: if you purchase this inside the US, creative will not pay shipping on warranty issues. You would have to pay to ship it to and from.. If it's from Amazon, they just replace it and cover most of the shipping.

Obsidian409Thanks for all the information! Especially good to know about the warranty. I sure wish it were still around on Amazon.CA. That being said Im not in a rush to get this so Im going to wait it out and hopefully by the time I get around to actually buying it will be available somewhere in Canada. The idea is to get the X7 to replace my old and aging Astro Mixamp (which is not very good tbh). Funny you mention your in Vancouver Island --- Im in the Lower-Mainland :)

TechCityRight on! Then you have options! Look into a private broker in Port Roberts! You can drive over there and clear it yourself. Since it's classed as a computer part, there is no import duty, just sales tax. Can do that for anything on here that won't ship to Canada. It's not always worth it, but if it's a good enough price or unique enough, then go for it.. And you won't regret replacing that mixamp!
