Interested in this drop; I am currently using an O2 dac+amp with my HD 598+ some cheap pc speakers. Will there be a need for the O2 if I switch to the Katana? Is there an RCA input in the system for the dac to plug into?

sunr5So in this case you could either use the O2 Dac+Amp with the Katana by going from the headphone OUT on the Katana to the O2...or you could eliminate the O2 from the mix and go straight from the Katana which would serve as the AMP+DAC. Really up to your preference =)

If I have my headset plugged into the headphone out, will the Katana always output to headset? Would it be possible to have the headset plugged in but have sound from the Katana? and vice versa... if possible, how easy is it to switch between speaker and headset)?

sunr5When the headset is plugged in the Katana then outputs only to the headphones / headset, when unplugged it switches back to speaker mode. It's just a matter of plugging and unplugging.
