looks good with the form and the led's but at this price point, there are much better 2.1 and 5.1 soundbars to consider. I don't think just because its a near field speaker, that makes it a superior product for computer use.
foukerFouker, I can see where you're coming from with this comment...but a few things to consider...
1. Katana has it's own full fledged multi-core processor built-in. It's going to blow away other "soundbars". This is actually why we're calling it an "Under-Monitor Audio System" the customization of audio profiles for various purposes is going to vastly eclipse standard sound bars. As more and more reviews come in I think you'll see this being put to some very interesting uses.
2. We've also just started with the lighting customization and interactivity with game titles. Due to where the Katana is placed, it offers some really cool immersive possibilities.
3. Because we have processing power on board it opens us up to offer new tech and types of tech. We've shown this with our E5 and X7 products (adding requested features after launch). When you're buying a standard codec piece..there's no real opportunity to update or advance with the times.
And of course, it's a damn good speaker system. I think you will be surprised just how much you get at this price point. We're confident people are going to be quite happy with this and firmly believe Katana is a very special product that's going to redefine how people approach speakers on their desktop (trying not to add too much hyperbole here, but we're pretty damn excited about this product getting into the wild).
At the end of the day, you have a great point. There are great options at the price point. We designed Katana to meet and exceed those offerings. We feel we've done that, and we hope that those that jump in are going to think that as well.
