I had just got the unit hooked up to my computer. Sound quality is very disappointing when compared to the $100 Klipsch 2.1 Media Pro. For the Kahana being a $300 sound bar, I would expect this unit to be better than the Klipsch media speakers.
The software is very laggy and unresponsive on my computer.
Holmes2468The software does suck but I was able to use it to adjust and up the mid range on my speakers and up the dialog on the cinema setting without to much trouble. I have found the speaker works better for me in the living room and not at my pc. At the pc I am to close to it to turn it up and I agree with the poster below that the stereo separation isn't great but when I am d in my couch watching TV, or gaming it is great. I found at my pc I prefer my older Logitech speakers or headset to get better stereo for gaming. I got this mostly for music and movies and for that I am happy.
Holmes2468The software is not laggy for me. The software seems sensitive to local issues in which case the USB audio may not work correctly. Try a different input direct making sure it is the default device in Windows sound settings.
The software does not 'suck', other than the driver connection sensitivity via USB. It works fine for me and it offers a good range of intuitively adjusted settings.
When working correctly the stereo is as wide as a bar this length could provide.
Also, did you update the firmware before installing the software?
SafetytrousersYes I did updated the software. And no, it's not a local issue. (Not just my computer).
I've tried my other desktop and my two laptops and they all are having the same laggy issue with the software. I had c even tried replacing the USB connector and having the same issue.
IamEugeneApparently, they are blaming the computer, not their product and are refusing to replace it. Even though, I had the same issues on 4 different computers.
All with various different Intel CPUS. I7 Ivy Bridge, Devil's Canyon i7, Skylake i5.
The best part, now the unit sounds hollow and like crap again.
Holmes2468I was using my Soundblaster E5 on my computer and a couple of months ago the software started lagging up. It's EXACTLY the same as how the Soundblaster Connect software currently behaves for me using the Katana and it sounds like you're experiencing the same. I suspect a driver update from a few months back caused it. As to what driver o why, who knows. This is creative's job to find out but they dont care.
It's practically unusable as it is on my computer. Not to mention the heavy static noise whenever i turn on the RGB lights. Yes this is ridiculous.
Holmes2468Hey there Holmes2468,
If you're having an issue with this many configurations that really leads me to believe that this is not a system based issue and has more to do with your specific unit. Can you send me a mail at socialmedia@creativelabs.com so I can help directly assist with this issue.
