For those of you who like the general concept of Jeff Park's design but like me, find CRKT's production model "not quite there" I highly recommend the Artisan Waistline: https://www.massdrop.com/talk/10349/artisan-cutlery-waistline-kwaiken I've had mine for about a month now and it has replaced my Bestech Kendo as my EDC pocket knife. I disliked CRKT's Crossbones primarily because of the aluminum handles (I dislike all metal handles, they get too slick when wet) and the fact that while the handle design is attractive, it has too many sharp edges. I'm used to taking a fine stone to the handles of a low end production knife and rounding down the sharp edges, but that was not necessary for the Artisan Waistline. The G10 handle panels are nicely beveled and meet up with the full length stainless steel liners with no gaps. There is no silly "glass breaker pommel" or protruding lanyard ring on the back side. Weekly application of Sentry Solution's Tuff Glide to the captured bearings and the area of the blade between the detent hole and the locking position have made this the fastest flipper I own - and I own a few of all different manufacturers. With a few hundred flips and the above mentioned dry lubricant, I put the smoothness of the action above that of the Boker Kwaikens that I have handled. I subscribe to the belief that the only sharp point a knife should have is at the front end of the blade (the end that gets pointed toward what you're trying to stick, for you remedial knife handlers), and that the only sharp edge on a knife is the edge you're trying to slice with. The price on Blade HQ is in the same ball park as the discounted price of the CRKT Crossbones.

bambam67 Just picked a new one up on eBay for $46 shipped and a much shorter wait. Sometimes these drops have no discount. sometimes they are good just have to look at each one and decide with research before pulling the trigger.

I handled this knife once, and was VERY put off by the complete lack of ergonomics. This knife is just a fractal of hot spots. About as comfortable as holding a butter knife by the wrong end.

With all my over the top beastly, zombie killing knives I own, this was a breath of fresh air , sleek, light, classy edc friendly shank with a nice blade shape that's put together solid, no flimsyness here. I dig it.

I bought this knife and was really unimpressed. Felt flimsy, and the fit and finish was really lacking. Tossed it in a drawer and (mostly) forgot about it, except to be sorry I paid the $40 +for it.

The fit wasn't straight, and the blade was a little (but only a little loose), and tightening the main screw didn't help. In addition, the blade and handle flexes a little (or at least mine does), maybe as a consequence of the blade being loose. As to the fit and finish, the edges of the handle, and the edges of the inset portions of the handle are sharpish, and it wasn't a joy to hold. Honestly, I regret purchasing it, and (as I mentioned), I have never carried it. I feel that I let myself get caught up in all the hype, and was expecting far more than this was going to deliver. I understand the custom versions, etc., of these knives are really quite nice.

I really like this knife design and have had my eye on it for awhile. It has always seemed a little overpriced to me though, so I've never pulled the trigger. And this Drop isn't really a good deal. At the time of this posting you can find it on Amazon for $50.33 with free shipping.

Right! I always check around the web before "pulling the trigger," I just withdrew from a drop yesterday for that reason. Sometimes there are no discounts. You'll see the same price on all sites. Most the time a manafacturer mandate.

Yeah, I've noticed the same. I still find a good deal on here once in awhile, but there are a significant number of items you can often find at the same price or even cheaper like this particular example.

Is there any warranty on this knife either from Massdrop or CRKT? If I received one that was off in any way I'd like to know what my options are.

The price on this drop is about $1 cheaper that what I bought it for at Amazon a month ago. I liked the knife except for one thing. The metal edges on the scales were very sharp, so I exchanged it for a Boker Urban Trapper.

Currently $57.14 at Amazon with no wait. No deal really here.
That being said, awesome knife. Have two of the CRKT versions and a midtech. People slighting the steel are wrong, the steel is just fine for daily use. I like my supersteels but AUS8 is fine for regular use and easier to sharpen. Frankly, feel like this one is punching a bit above it's street price. I like my midtech because the designer had his hands on it and there are some little design differences, but overall CRKT stayed true to the design. For the price difference, it is hard to recommend the midtech or custom when the mass produced version is so good. CRKT really knocked it out of the ballpark with this one.
The beauty of this knife is in the design. It is a dream to hold and Jeff Park really dialed in the details to make it the "perfect" EDC for most people's needs. The lines of the scales serving for design and grip, the upswept FFG blade, the short deep carry clip, the effortless ball bearing action, the stellar manufacturing (each one I have handled has been perfectly centered and had fall shut action with a little jiggle), the lightweight materials, the sharpening choil, the simplicity, the lines, and on and on.
I'm not sure if my recent acquisitions have just been lucky. Have heard in the past that centering was an issue, action was just meh, etc. Also heard the knives were made in China. Boxes of both of mine are marked Taiwan. Maybe they improved QC with a change in facilities.
Everyone has different tastes, it may not be for everyone. But if you are on the fence at all, this is a knife you need to spend some time with to appreciate just how great it is.
