While the M16 may be Kit Carson’s most widely recognized knife design, the M4 is his most popular. This version comes appointed with a combination handle of G-10 and white bone. The resulting two-toned look is at once tactical and traditional, right in the ethos of its designer’s body of work. Measuring 3.25 inches, the 8Cr13MoV stainless steel blade can be applied in outdoor scenarios or around the house. It’s corrosion resistant and very easy to sharpen if it dulls. Deployment is spring assisted, meaning all you need is a nudge on the thumb stud and the edge flies into place. Secured by a liner lock, it will keep a steady hold when pressure is applied. The stainless steel clip is for right-handed tip-down carry, nice and wide for easy retrieval.

After growing up an avid hunter and fisherman in the mountains of Georgia, Kit Carson spent more than 30 years in the army, reaching the level of master sergeant. His experience in the outdoors and in the armed forces heavily shaped Carson’s views on knife design. In 1993, Carson became a full-time knifemaker and eventually became a voting member of the Knifemakers’ Guild until his passing in 2014. Never one to follow the crowd, Carson believed in function over aesthetic, a trait derived from his background that can be found in the majority of his work.
