Most of the time, Massdrop hits on a good deal... The value may include something different, something odd, something really special that may not be available anywhere else, something exclusive, upgraded materials, and/or it almost always it's offered at a fair or lower (much lower) price. This knife doesn't appear to fit anyone of those conditions :( OK... wait a minute... it is kind of cool looking, but... that's it I guess.

AJAugustThat model is about as ho hum yawn as it gets imo. Id pick the crossbones over it anyday and while its not perfect its pretty good. Got mine off the bay for $46 shipped and its in my pocket right now!

CdoyleTotally subjective but this thing makes the Crossbones look pretty damn gaudy.

smallbitIs fake? Not sure what your implying exactly but if you mean its fake bc it came from ebay, first off I doubt anyone would fake a crkt knife bc just why and second there are plenty of authorized dealers selling on that site. If you dont know the difference though then i wouldnt risk it either.

CdoyleBro.... https://www.dhgate.com/product/oem-crkt-fulcrum-7404-by-russ-kommer-aus/168876081.html wait... https://www.dhgate.com/product/cutting-tool-crkt-knife-tool-4020rh-graham/389267755.html I can't find this exact model but it might be that they aren't mass producing it anymore and have moved on to newer models (in China). CRKT is probably the most heavily faked knife because they outsource all of their manufacturing. But the Bremer's were the ones that decided to outsource. I mean when you teach someone a skill they aren't just going to stop. I think the only knife they make in the US now is the m-16. But the copies look really good so I dunno. It is even such a big issue CRKT dedicated a webpage to the problem. https://www.crkt.com/counterfeits/

https://www.dhgate.com/product/crkt-m16-01s-outdoor-edc-fishing-self-defense/420037765.html I think when you look at the different chinese knockoffs it is easy to see which companies are actual 1:1 copies because they are straight from the outsourced factory and which companies protected their intellectual property by never outsourcing so the fakes do not even compare to the real ones. Benchmade is a good example of that. Microtech too! You cannot fake a microtech. I mean you can but the fakes are crap.

smallbitThats true companies that outsource to overseas OEM manufacturers like CrKT does are definitely at a huge risk for counterfeiting esp when its in china. Ive seen ontario rat fakes, authentics are made in Taiwan. Spydercos are heavily faked also and one of the most prevalent on ebay as they have their budget line made in china and theres the taichung factory, in Taiwan . most are junk and immediately obvious in hand compared to the authentics but The 1:1 clones are no doubt a product of what you described and probably even from the same factory they outsourced to in the first place. I also see a lot of benchmade counterfeits even though all their knives are american made these days with the discontinuation of their foreign made red class and hk lines. They can be really good clones too like the 940-1 for example but they will be priced way too cheap and from a seller overseas. I believe most of the big name knife companies do have some mention about fakes on their website that ive seen. I am aware of aliexpress and dhgate that sell tons of fake micro techs, benchmades etc but As far as crkt i hadnt seen any replicas yet and didn't bother to look for anylike I would with more expensive brands but it makes sense as the ontario rats arent expensive knives but are popular and made overseas just like crkts so budget knives arent exempt from counterfeiting so thanks for the links. When i do buy on ebay i tend to go thru authorized and licensed dealers when buying new knives. Most fakes ive seen are awful and its obvious even just from the listing pictures and the off packaging but some are harder to tell. if the listing is shady, from a seller overseas, or the seller wont answer specific questions about details i steer clear. I have a decent size collection so im familar with the hallmarks to look for regarding authenticity but im sure its possible to get burned still but haven't yet luckily since im cautious. Good deals can be had but if theres no significant savings or if its a higher end knife its best to order from larger reputable vendors. if theres any doubt or red flags its a pass.
