The size and shape make it easy to disappear in the pocket. The blade is nice and sharp but I'm just not a fan of the deployment. The newer version with a flipper tab is much easier to open.
I picked up the CEO to pair with a Montblanc pen for my inner jacket pocket. While it's quite compact and slim, don't be fooled as it provides quite some length in usable blade edge. While not ground very thin, I wouldn't use it to cut deep into materials, as it will act more like a wedge at that point. However for shallow cuts, scoring and piercing, it's a great blade shape.
Love the action with the thumb stud, and I can both flick and slow roll. Sadly it's only deploy-able with the right hand for me. Love how the blade is completely hidden in the handle, and the texture engraving work in the handle hides the fact that it's basically plastic.
Finally, the pommel is capped off with a nice chunk of what I imagine is a chromed metal of some sort. Probably good enough to open up a walnut but wouldn't use it to hammer a nail.
Overall a great budget blade for light use. Wish a luxury version was available, with better steel and carbon fiber handles as I would pick that up, too!
Before I ordered I knew this would be a low end knife; I was not disappointed.
It is quite low end and suffers from quality control issues. Mine arrived dull, and the liner lock does not butt against the back of the blade, so it doesn't lock! The scales are plastic and it feels like it. When opened, the liner lock is difficult to reach to fold the blade back in. It doesn't open easily one handed, even with a callus or finding the "wet spot" as a previous user said 🙂
Easy to take apart. I filed the butt of the blade which was covered in burrs from the manufacturing process; that helped with the liner locking in place. I sharpened it to razor sharpness easily... although it got dull again quickly. The style and shape is fantastic, looks elegant and non- threatening. The price is right and international shipping was great.
Buy this knife only knowing that it is disposable (or if you are a CEO with low standards). Looks beautiful on a desk as a letter opener!
Triaedthis is interesting because the fit/finish on mine is perfect and the blade has a consistent geometry and is shaving sharp all the way down.
My only gripe is the thumb stud takes some practice and could have been better designed. If I had a metal lathe, I'd just make a new one for it that was a smidge bigger. But for a jeans pocket knife, I love the shape, geometry, and size, so getting used to the thumb stud is worth it. If you need to open a knife ten times a day for work, I definitely wouldn't recommend it though.
I wonder if the first batch may have been rushed out the door because people were clamoring for this and CRKT wanted to capitalize on the hype.
Sweet little knife. Thumb stud is a bit tall and pocket clip has a bit of a point on it. But it’s lightening fast to open and feels good on the hand. I would like to see one in D2 or something a little harder than what it is.
I've got several CRKT and love the all including this one. I did have an issue with this on as the dtent was way too stiff and I had to open it up and file it down and oil it t make it function. A bit of QA before it went out the door would solve this.
