This knife is extremely hard to open and has serious lock stick. Flex is so bad it really causes an issue with the action. CRKT once again does a poor job executing a good design. I would not buy this knife again.

I wouldn't mind the 8Cr13MoV if the price were dropped to match the blade steel. That said, I've recently gotten four good knives with D2, Acuto440, AUS-8, and yes, 8Cr13MoV for under $30. Two of them were $20. Yes, they were all made in China which I believe is the same as this CRKT. My next "upgrade" steel I'm looking for is 12C27 or 14C28N and those are in $30 knives.
So sure, stay with 8Cr13MoV if you want to CRKT, but don't be charging mid-level steel price for it.

Good feeling knife in the hand. Pretty snappy action like I always expect from the team at CRKT. But the edge that came on this knife was something these knife guys should be embarrassed about. Totally fixable, but why am establishing a new bevel on a new knife? Something I expect from a cheap Chinese beater knife, not a blade from CRKT or Massdrop.

Once, just once, would be awesome to have a knife drop without the steel snobs coming in and crapping all over the thread.
Most of us aren't [snotty] metallurgists and are perfectly fine with and capable of touching up the edge when needed.

I really love Richard's designs and wish I could afford one of his customs. I think this one is called the "Cuatro" because it's based on his "4F" design. https://richardrogersknives.com/pages/4f
EDIT: Actually it looks more like the Vector V2. https://richardrogersknives.com/pages/vector-v2
I agree with others that 8Cr13MoV surely isn't like the CTS-XHP he uses on his handmade knives, but it is easy to sharpen which I think is an important quality for a knife that can be carried and used daily without worrying too much about how it looks. As far as $40 knives go, I kinda like this little guy.
JonasHeinemanOnce you get a sharpening system, like the Lansky somestimes dropped here, or some stones, or other popular sharpeners like the KME, Wicked Edge Pro, or the one from Spyderco (you know the one), an EDC blade that takes a keen edge but needs sharpening a little sooner is not really a proble. An EDC blade also comes back home with you practically everyday, whereas a steel that holds an edge longer makes sense on longer work trips (sometimes, there is lots of tape to cut and boxes to open) or multi-day camping trips.
Bring this svelte looking blade (is the handle thin too?) to work, whether work is the office or the ranch, and it will serve its purpose well.
If you’ve handled it, is the flipping action fun for fidgeting?

As others have noted, the steel is a disappointment for such a great design. Unfortunately, it's blade is also rather thick above the edge and I think it would have been a much better knife if the blade were hollow ground like its cousin, the Maven. Wish CRKT would adopt CQI as Spyderco has done... too many great designs have been ignored because of the blade steel. If Bestech, Ruike, and Real Steel can make an inexpensive knife with a better steel, why can't CRKT?

If you can get past the steel this knife is awesome. One of my favorite knifes to play with/open close And it looks and feels great. If the steel were better it would very high in my carry rotation.

For the benefit of those who may be considering joining a later drop for this same item . . . bear the following in mind when you decide whether to spend the money. The best thing about this knife is the design profile, but the steel is definitely not going to hold an edge very long. Which leads me to another drawback, one that I haven't seen mentioned before, so I'm not sure if it was widespread. My knife, though it was fairly sharp when received, also had a very uneven edge bevel. The grind angle was much steeper at the tip and the handle than it was in the center of the blade. I only realized the severity of the problem when moderately light use soon degraded the original keenness of the blade, and I sat down to re-dress the edge with a set of Arkansas stones. I'm pretty good at keeping a consistent angle on the stones when I use them, but I couldn't find a single angle that would come even close to tracking the length of the blade with the original grind -- and the grind angle on opposite sides of the blade varied in any given location by at least 2-3 degrees! In the end, the only practical solution was to invest about an hour or so with a couple of coarse stones to re-profile the entire edge. on both sides. Ironically, if it had been the harder steel I had just been wishing it were, it might have taken several times that long!
