With more than 40 years of experience handling weapons and tools, renowned blacksmith and Vietnam veteran Elmer Roush has teamed up with CRKT to make the Freyr outdoor axe. Named after the Norse god of prosperity, the Freyr can be used as a field axe, an emergency weapon, or a handy tool in the line of duty Read More
This isn’t the best axe design for chopping wood. The design is similar to a Viking battle axe. The opening between the blade and the stick was used for getting your opponents weapon stuck and pull it out of his hands.
Blade is slightly bent. Would return if it weren't a cheap axe that I'm gonna abuse. Plus, I'm right handed, so with the way the blade is bent it shouldn't impede my cuts much
I've heard really bad things about this axe. Check reviews on YouTube, all show it fails to cut wood not just because it is blunt out of the box but because it is a little too thick.
This looks similar to the Birler (another Elmer Roush design)... which was a complete piece of garbage (I'm sure that has more to do with CRKT than it does with Roush).
GamalielI bought a Birler despite the negative reviews I had seen... and immediately returned it. The head was already loose when it arrived and that only figured to get worse after use. Worthless trash. The fit and finish were horrible too. And I'm sure it's ALL to do with CRKT, which is a shame cuz I have and like some of their other products.
