it appears to me that once the shipping fee is added it is about the same price as amazon. I may be missing something but it appears to me that most massdrop products I have looked at are about the same as the amazon price after shipping is considered. I thought the whole idea was to get better deals, but so far I have not seen any.

It needed a good sharpening and its handles re-wrapped in a more useful manner, but other than that it's a nice knife for the price. I keep it on my motorbike as a back-up emergency blade.
decent looking knife but I strongly suggest that if you buy one you do a better job with the paracord wrapping than they did for the pictures. Loose wrapping can result in the knife slipping in your hand - possibly causing serious injury.
There are hundreds of DIY instructional websites and/or YouTube videos that can walk you step-by-step through re-tying the handle. Something that small would go pretty quick even for someone who isn't comfortable working with their hands. If you can follow instructions, you can do that part of it. If not, the wrap that comes with this knife should suffice unless you plan on putting it through extremely heavy duty, which wouldn't make a lot of sense if you aren't comfortable working with your hands, right?
As far as the belt clip that comes with this knife being used on your pack strap, it will probably suffice, but you'd likely be much happier with a Blade-Tech Tek-Lok. The Tek-Lok can be mounted at various angles so that draw is horizontal, vertical, angled in-between, or even facing vertically down, though I would recommend against that unless there's retention on the sheath, which I didn't notice if it has it or not. Tek-Loks come with mounting hardware to mount to the sheath, and the sheath stays put where you place it and in the position you place it when using a Tek-Lok. It easily removes from any belt or strap to move it to another belt or strap, for instance, having it on your belt while driving to the start-point of your hike, and moving it to your pack strap during the hike.
Tek-Loks are kind of pricey, but not so much when you consider that they can be used on anything with mounting holes like those pictured on the knife's sheath in this listing. Typically, they're around $11 to $15 bucks. Here's a listing for one on Amazon at the lower end of that estimate: https://www.amazon.com/Blade-Tech-Tek-Lok-with-Hardware/dp/B00G2DPHFM?th=1&psc=1
This is a small knife very similar in design to the one in this listing (a Becker BK-14). The sheath is a custom one set on the Tek-Lok at about a 45 degree angle at about 10:00 on my belt in cross-draw fashion:
VecsusI got my pair. Dull as a butter knife, but took a decent edge quickly.
Does anyone know the correct way to mount the belt loop part. I have messed with similar things quite often, but do not fin any position for the loop that seems right. Same with what seems to be the kneck cord...
