JohnnyCI don't have a "guide" per say, but I made a post on geekhack after the first drop, and got this response: http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=55844.msg1257560#msg1257560
I decided to use some cheap micro-switches I got from amazon instead of the cherry switches; they "feel" more like other mouse buttons. Soldering them to some cheap stereo wires was pretty straightforward, and so long as you bind the buttons to something in the mapping software, it seems to work. Of course, I still haven't come up with a good way of mounting them yet...
JohnnyC1) Get a 3.5mm mono cable.
2) Cut it in half.
3) Strip it.
4) Solder each of the two wires to each of the two pins on the bottom of a MX Cherry switch.
5) Map it using software.
6) ?????
7) Profit.
corey123Some of the mono cables with a plug on each end have integrated resistors in the plugs and I've heard people sometimes have problems with them not working.
