I've been waiting for this http://countycomm.com/tiwhistle.html to restock on http://www.edcgear.co.uk/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=CC061 . Lightweight titanium and small profile without getting expensive. Then again titanium doesn't automatically imply quality and there's no information on safety standards compliance.
This Cybernetic whistle seems fat and clumsy for keyring EDC in comparison but has a number of interesting features and claims to exceed government safety standards. A drop for the titanium version could be interesting, although it is only half as heavy as the brass version and still ten times heavier than the CountyComm whistle.
This whistle is probably great if you're one for adventures in the great outdoors. Personally I'm looking for something small and light to put on my keyring and forget about.

dag.odenhallJust to clear things up - this whistle was specifically designed to comply with government safety standards, which is where that 3150 Hz number comes from.
I do love titanium and Cybernetic Research Labs does make a titanium version of this, it just costs about 1.5 times as much. If this drop is popular, we can do a titanium one in the future. Here's a diagram of the interior in case you're interested, both because the flute design is interesting and it helps you see why they chose this particular length.
