My Girlfriend and I have been having a ton of fun with this game. I do feel like it's better with more characters in the fray. So, if you don't mind running a couple of characters at a time (or just have friends like I don't) the game gets very interesting. Also, throw in a little RP and see if it makes trudging through the dense, humid jungle more exciting for you and yours like it has for me and mine.
