Hmmm. I used to play old school P&P D&D back in the early 80's and recently want to get back into it on a limited basis with my Daughter. I have a starter kit so what I want to know is, Is this a kind of expansion? Do I need other manuals? Or can I play right out of the box with basic knowledge of the game?

OjibwayBobI have the first game in the series Castle Ravenloft. While it shares similarities to D&D it is its own game. There is no dungeon Master and the enemies are controlled by their respective cards. It is self-contained and you can play right out of the box with the instruction manual provided.

OjibwayBobThey are stand alone board games make make use of limited D&D mechanics for play. Its like a gateway to D&D. (Man that makes it seam like a drug).

OjibwayBobThese are stand-alone boardgames. They use some of the same ideas as "proper" D&D, but they have their own self-contained rules. (If you want to get back in to D&D, have a look at the 5th edition Starter Set, or the free Basic rules.)
