Made from some of the finest leather in the world, these shell cordovan straps provide a comfy fit and will last a lifetime. They’re handcrafted from Shinki Hikaku shell cordovan, a leather that’s made from horse hide that takes nearly a full year to finish. The Shinki Hikaku tannery is one of Japan's most well respected. In business since 1951, it specializes in equine leathers like the shell cordovan featured here. As you wear them, the straps will naturally patina and age with your wear. Though thickness can vary because of the leather’s rarity, these straps average somewhere between 1.8 and 2.2 millimeters. Get them with or without a keeper in your choice of two colors and multiple sizes.
Note: At checkout, choose between a strap with no keeper or with a keeper (+ $2). You’ll also have your choice of color between natural and red, your choice of size from 18 - 26 mm, and your choice of hardware in black PVD or matte. If you like, you can add a 4-ounce bottle of Venetian Leather Cream for (+ $9).
Shell cordovan is the fibrous flat muscle (or shell) taken from the rear quarters of a horse hide. This rare leather goes through an extensive six-month production process that includes tanning, stuffing, shaving, and polishing. It’s regarded as one of the most durable sources of leather and is sought after for its hand-finished color treatment. Each strap has a unique appearance that comes from the shade of each individual piece of shell cordovan.
