Hey everyone,
Welcome to SA Danger Zone and the first keycap set from us in 2019. This particular set holds a very special place in my heart and I’m excited to work with Data again on the second run of these keycaps.
SA Danger Zone was last launched in 2015, when I first started at Massdrop and the keyboard community was far smaller than what it is today. In fact, /r/mechanicalkeyboards had less than 100,000 subscribers when Danger Zone was last active.
Back in 2015, Danger Zone was conceived as an R3 uniform SA set. This was also before Signature Plastics had a chance to update some of the last legacy SA tools like the R3 right shift.
The keyboard community has grown astronomically since 2015. Signature Plastics has also filled out their tools for the SA line. We are taking this opportunity to create a fully sculpted set for the second round of Danger Zone.
The colors, from the navy blue alphas to the yellow and red accent keys, remain the same as the original run and the popular aviation themed text novelties will be making a comeback as well.
We are excited to kick off the year with a classic SA set and want to thank everyone for their support.
One final note before I sign off - there are a few kits that are still being finalized. We will get them added to the drop page as soon as they are complete.

YanboWuHi - I received my order and the keycaps look great. However, I screwed up and failed to order the "Alphas" set - I have only the modifiers, specialties, and numpad. Is there any way to get the Alphas from you or anyone else who ordered extra somehow? Thanks.

DataAnd idea on when these might get approved? It's just not adding kits, it's deciding on kits. And I wanted to see the full array before I made any decisions. I'm sure that there are others similarly waiting.

I know i am in the minority when it comes to this....but i could never see paying this kind of money for an ABS set..doubleshot or not...It's attractive sure but once it starts to shine like a bald mans head that nice 75-100$ set now looks like childs toy plastic....and feels like typing on oil. I know PBT has less color options for custom sets but i'd still love to see a nice custom PBT set pop up eventually.

I guess the reason I like the profile/material is because it takes me back to the old days when computers filled a desk, and there were no such thing as laptop/notebook computers. Back when Hard Drives were hard to come by and when you needed to use a boot Floppy to be able to run software. Monochrome monitors came in either of two colors, Green/Black or Amber/Black, and there was no such thing as a mouse. This profile takes me back to those times...however, I do like the feel of a good PBT set, i.e. IMSTO Cherry Profile. :)

These looked fantastic—but it's a big letdown, as usual here on Ma$$drop. The prominently displayed $39.99 price is a fantasy. A standard 104-key layout is actually $144. I'm assuming you all have rich parents.

Technically, I had two of 'em, but now have only one, but that extra one was for frivolous stuff like this... /:
I actually might bow out of this one, despite how desperately I wanted sculpted back in 2015...
I mean... I do have the R3 Danger Zone, from back then...
Ugh... Unexpected stuff like this sucks. >_<

Something wrong? It's pending for days and then the AeroDox kit turns out to be flat in all R3 to match the sculpted 1-2-3-4-3 Alphas.

hhkbp2So to be fair, I have no idea how SP or Massdrop comes up with their prices.
But this kit is missing keys compared to SA Pulse and SA Carbon. Those kits were sculpted and had more keys. They were the same price as this kit, and even cheaper in the case of Carbon. (But that may be a volume thing?) You can still look up these drops and compare for yourself.
EDIT: Just saw your other post. You already know all this, and I like your breakdown, too.

Got mine today... along with a $33 Customs charge. But like I say: sometimes you win some, some times you dim sum.
More annoying is the Master Arm key is Blue instead of Grey that someone else mentioned.. so then my left and right don't match when I use it.. gotta use the Backspace key instead. Doubt they're going to replace that key with grey ones for everyone.

Great points, all. It's important to note that production is scheduled for December and slotted for 8-10 weeks. But this is SP we're talking about here, so those dates and times are very "flexible". Let's remember to likewise stay flexible with our expectations.

Now, i'm trying hard to imagine if the blue tones might be looking good together, which isn't easy right now.

This is great news. I made an inquiry w/ SP ~ 6 months ago and the response was they did not have the designers permission to rerun. Based off the responses in the thread, this is no longer an obstacle. I barely missed the first drop. Looking forward to a second this year.

Data, any update on roughly when Danger Zone round 2 will happen? I am assuming after SA Carbon and SA oblivion? The few set available on Massdrop in March was gone in 30 second. Apparently I was just not fast enough on clicking on the buy button... Really looking forward to this showing up this year.

LoqueI came to comment exactly the same. I'd pull the trigger if those were included in the ortholinear kit. even alpha+wingman won't cover a planck as they are not enough keys to cover the bottom row for 2-3-4-3 or 2-3-4-4 profiles. Also, regular mods arrows profile won't work on a planck. Sadly, I have to pass on this nice but incomplete set.
