hey, i use a darkvoice 336se with the sennheiser hd650, do you know how long i should let the amp warm up before playing? (i don't have any experiance with tube amps) and if i won't let it warm up first, will it have any permeant negative effects on my equipment?
No negative effects as far as I know. I used to turn it on before the other things of the setup, so it was ready when everything was up and running.
Sold mine since I use my Schiit Jotunheim way more often though..
Could you do a brief comparison btw the jot and the darkvoice. I am currently torn btw these 2 options for my hd6xx. Many thanks in advance.
Tbh, you should check what suits your needs best, connectivity, purpose etc. As for technology, build quality, sound and bang for your buck; get the jotunheim. If you already have a decent amp and want to try tube, go for it but don't expect to be mind-blown.
To my ears the jot sounded the best of the two. There are enough forums which state you should change tubes as the stock ones are okay but not mind blowing on the darkvoice. This problem doesn't occur with the jot. In hindsight, I'm glad I still have the jotunheim as it now functiones as a dac for my stax 3100 setup. With this setup, I won't be buying any more headphones in the next good few years!
Happy new year and good luck deciding!
