Where can I buy tubes for this amp? I am ok with stock tubes
Search for the tubes online with the "6AS7" and the "6SN7". Personally myself I like the NOS Tung-Sol 6SN7 tube(s).
Agree, I got a few different 6SN7 tubes and in reality there are not a ton of differences. I'm not going to go so far as to say they are identical, but once you find a good tube it becomes nit picking to justify an upgrade. I also really like the balance of the vintage Tung Sol (GTB in my case). Nice low end and mid-range. Using HD 6XX and DT990 headphones.
geeker342, if you found a tube you like that’s fantastic, How about the power tube, the 6AS7, what are you using?
Do you think Tube amp is good for someone who listens to more of electronic music? Deephouse tech house etc
I listen to some Electronic Music, but in my opinion it is better on Solid State.
I'm using a GE 6080 power tube. It doesn't look pretty but it's as tough as nails and gives good power to all the audio tubes I have thrown at it. From reading around the forums the power tube is not as big of a factor once you get a decent one. I haven't noticed a ton a difference in the power tubes I have tried.
The only power tube that have gotten that I didn’t much care for was a Svetlana “Winged C”. I do like the Western Electric, Brimar, Mullard, RCA, and Tung-Sol power tubes, especially the WE and the Mullard.
I agree, the Tung-Sol sounds nice out of the box...just needs burn-in to kill the hum.
I just hope you don't have to do a 100 hour burn-in.
