Early doors yet but it sounds promising. Stock tubes are quieting down now. Not sure if step up transformer is colouring the sound.
Just changed interconnects and now after a week of listening the tubes are very quiet. Definitely an amp that needs a fairly long burn in process. Don't know what happened to tube amps over the years. I used to install big racks of Altec tube amps and they were quiet from the get go. I wonder if the factory used to burn the tubes in because when we changed tubes there was no hum. I think I still have an attic full of old tubes and parts, might have a dig around this weekend.
I am no expert but an unshielded transformer can and will induce hum into any unshielded circuit. Suggest moving the transformer away from both cables and headphone amp and see if any improvement. Enjoy your Darkvoice.
Thanks for the comment. Good news is it was the cables I was using. Swapped to an inexpensive set of Audioquest cables and it is silent now.
