Honey for your ears (with a slight humm of the bees)
I bought this amp during sale, but I would even spend the extra money to get it again. So far I´m more than satisfied with the product, but I have two minor things to complain about. First, I dont like the preinstalled tubes, it comes with. They sound unbalanced and it feels like something is missing, so i advice you to get a cheap 6080 power tube and a current production Tung-Sol from russia and your HD6XX will make your ears tickle just fine while not breaking your bank. Second complaint is a bit more serious, the high noise at the headphone output. Yes i burnt in all my tubes and I´m not talking about that type of static humm. There has to be something wrong or missing at the power supply, because as soon as i turn off the power and the tubes are still warm enough to output sound, the background noise completely disappears. It´s not too bad and only appearant at if nothing is playing, but i could imagine, this adds to a certain amount of distortion in general. I saw mods, where they installed 2 capacitors at the 6sn7 tubes base, but you would have to open the device which voids your warranty and I don´t recommend to people without any knowhow at all (not to speak of the highly increased gain). Nevertheless I highly recommend the Darkvoice 336SE to anyone who is new in the world of Audio, and it´s a must-have for anyone who wants to push his/her pair of HD6XX to its limits and try out new things.

SyphyDoes your source or any component in your audio chain require AC power from the wall? Quickest easiest possible fix would be to get a surge protector from a reputable company like Tripp Lite or Furman. Plug everything in your audio path into this surge protector and nothing else. In some circuits, when there are multiple paths to ground, the ground can turn into an antenna that picks up EMI. When there's only one path to ground this is attenuated. Hope this helps!

SyphyAny power strip is fine. Tripp Lite and Furman are just to brands that make a superior product for reasonable prices.
