If I compare these socks against socks from other brands, then I might rate them a 5, but if I compare them against other Darn Tough socks, I would give them at best a 3. Their fit is definitely inferior to other Darn Tough socks. Since they're relatively thin, I plan to wear these in the summer only, and expect them to last for years.
Bottom line: these are very good socks, but all the other MANY pairs of Darn Tough socks I've owned are excellent, so I am a little disappointed.

Best socks I've ever owned.

Darn Tough makes the most comfortable, long lasting socks you can buy. I have their socks for skiing, mountain biking, and work, and the one thing they all have in common is that they last forever without any special handling. Super comfortable and great fit too. Beware - they are not cheap, and once you get some you won't want any other brand.

Honestly disappointed in these. The toes don't fit right at all, which ruins the comfort of any sock. If the toes were shaped for human feet properly, they'd be 4 or 5 stars.

Was pretty disappointed by these socks, they don't stay up if you have thin ankles. And they're really thin! Love my other darn tough socks, but not these...

My wife loves the women's socks I purchased, but I hate the men's. They have a very strange fit in the toes and the heel, and they actually bothered me so bad that I changed socks in the middle of the day. They kept wanting to bunch up around my heel, even though I ordered the proper size. Oh well - I will certainly order more of these for my wife, but definitely not for myself!
