Wooden case for planck

I translated it and uploaded it because I can't speak English. When I received it, I felt that the finish was a bit disappointing than I thought. There were erratically pressed marks on the varnish, and debris remained in some dents. Still, I am satisfied because I wanted to use a wooden housing. It fits perfectly into the Planck when assembled.

Great looking but close up inspection leaves me wanting more

Review Edit: After a day of use and thought, added additional details to the review and knocked off a star to 3 from a prev rating of 4. I really really like this case but I do not want to have my excitement for the case dilute the problems. Review Edit 2nd time: moving back to 4 stars, the case really does it for me. Took some sandpaper to the case and cleaned up the edges a bit. Also layered on some additional lacquer and am pleased with the results. Good looking and feeling case for the planck rev6 but when viewed closely does have some sub par qualities. Using gateron yellow ink v2 switches - the shorter travel so that I might gain some overhead with taller caps (using the planck drop caps currently, plenty of head room). The case feels good but could REALLY use a final touch up of fine grain sandpaper around the holes and edges just to clean things up a bit. It does look like there is some wood stain or lacquer but I will probably add another THICK coat or two. Very nifty idea having a case and wrist rest for the planck. If you are willing to do a few final touches to the case (or don't mind the case as is) then def a great accessory for the planck, HOWEVER for something close to $90 I was hoping for a more professionally finished product. Would only recommend if you really want a wooden case for your planck based on the case I received. Happy enough to keep this as a project to improve upon (not like I am going anywhere anytime soon) but if I were to be offered this outside of pandemic and knew I would receive a case in the same state as the one I just received I might hesitate. Would recommend with caveat that a little extra work can really make the case shine. Case as is, out of box:

Simple and lovely

I ordered the walnut finish with the high profile lid. Finish quality is very good, but not what I would call a high quality finish. The magnet system is simple genius. Lid stays firmly attach to the base. The side magnets to use the lid as a wrist rest seem to function well. That being said the high profile lid makes it a bit uncomfortable to use it in this manner. I'm guessing the normal lid wound share not this issue.

It did not fit properly (wrong Planck version?). Magnets and wood seems good. I will probably sell it on eBay (with a disclaimer) because of the fit problem.

I think they mentioned in the discussions that it didn’t fit the first version? My rev 6 fit perfectly.

It looks good, it's functional (the lid), it's portable (light). So overall it's good. But it has flaws and taking into account the price I'm not really satisfied with it. I'll be happily using it, but I wouldn't buy it second time.

First, I expected it to be much sturdier and heavier. Being lightweight is good for portability, but it's doesn't feel nice when you hold it (subjective: feels "cheap") and I think it leads to the next issue.
It resonates the sounds. I got new Halo True switches, installed them in this case but after using it for several days at work I had to change back to the Gateron Silent Browns. Halo Trues are much heavier and have a springy and clacky sound when you release the key. So the case amplifies this sound and what what's worse, the lid used as a wrist rest also resonates with it. The sound is very different with and without the lid/wrist-rest. Having a soft desk mat helps, but it's still noticeable. I'm thinking of sticking some kind of soft layer to dampen this resonance effect.
The lid doesn't fit perfectly. When it's on, you can move it around a bit. it's not a big deal, but an annoying detail.
The USB port cutout is nearly not as nice and accurate as you see on the photos here. This is a general complaint about the photos here: there were not enough of them, they lacked in quality and didn't correspond to reality (thanks for at least some real photos in the comments).

Overall, I think all these things are fixable and I hope they will be fixed with time.
