@Datamancer Hi, I just received my case from the prior drop last week for the Preonic Rev2 fit. The case looks great but there is no mounting hardware... Was that intentional? Based on the pics, I assumed the standoffs and screws to secure them would be part of the case. If they were in fact not included, can you tell me what size standoff fits this case best? Second questions, seeing the tall vs normal questions on newer drop, will the case I have fit uniform row 3 SA caps?
ZevBGood questions! The hardware is intentionally left out. The hardware is honestly pretty complicated because it is completely different depending on where you get your keyboard from. If it was from Massdrop, it was shipped with M2 screws and standoffs, if it was from OLKB directly, then it used 2-56 screws and standoffs. I designed the case to work with either size of screws (you may need to make very minor mods, like getting longer screws or drilling the holes out a bit). I'm not sure if the keyboard you're trying to fit the case around has standoffs built in, but they're available from Digikey: https://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/wurth-electronics-inc/702913000/732-9622-ND/5843782, and you can get them in different heights to experiment with. The screw hardware is available from McMaster Carr. But you're gonna have to double check the JJ50 hardware to make sure. For the second question, kind of. I think Uniform SA will allow the lid to close, however the switches will be depressed. Generally for that height of keycap I would recommend the tall lid. Edit: If you have a preonic, the case should be compatible with your existing hardware.

DatamancerOoh nice, thank you, makes sense. I found a rev2 Preonic on /mm to put in this case, came with hardware so I should be all set. The case is really nice, thanks for making them!

DatamancerI am planning to get the preonic rev 3 for sale currently in md. Reading from ZevB purchase experience, I want to clarify 1) If i were to get this wooden case (rev 3), then I won't have to order the available case offered by the preonic gb right? (This hardwood case serves as a replacement) 2) all screws etc to secure the preonic rev 3 are included right w/ this case (rev 3)?

Datamancer@Datamancer Hi, following up, I finished the install last night! I bought the version of the case made for Rev2 preonics and found a Rev2 preonic kit on /mm. The standoffs that came with the kit did fit just fine, but the screws from the Rev2 kit were slightly too short. Instead of boring out the holes in the wooden case, I used slightly longer M2 screws that I had from a different kit. The PCB sits nice and snugly inside. The version of the case I bought did not have a tall option, so I am using the standard option with an all Row 3 SA set. The top will close and stay closed if I push it down, but also sits nicely on top of the keys for on-desk storage. I use a little band to hold the case shut in my bag anyway, so it stays securely shut in transit. All things being said, the case is great quality and the sound is very unique vs the metal and sandwich style cases I have for my other preonics. My advice to other buyers: If you are looking to buy this case for taller caps like MT3 or SA, get the tall case. The standoffs that come with typical sets will work fine, but you may benefit from longer M2 screws. The wood has a sort of ping sound to it vs metal, so consider a little baffle on the bottom of the case or heavier lube on the springs in your switches if you don't like the ping, I personally like it. yohannesThe Rev 3 preonic has the same issue with different suppliers having different screw hardware. I will be including M2 screws with this case since it is sold on Massdrop. The standoffs are pre-attached to the Rev 3 PCB.

DatamancerThanks for your reply. 1 more thing. I am new to preonic but want to confirm that if i were to get this hardwood case, then I can opt *not* to order the offered CNC cases from preonic right?
yohannesYes, when you order on Massdrop, you can just use the CNC Case Color dropdown and select "No Case" and it is $55 less than the listed price.

DatamancerThat's great to hear. Can you update the spec on the main page that the purchase will include the aforementioned screws because right now the only things that are included are just top lid, bottom case, and rubber feet.
yohannesI don't have the ability to update the specs, only Massdrop does.

DatamancerI see. But what assurance do I get that you will remember to include the aforementioned M2 screws given the # of orders you need to process since the inclusion is not mentioned officially?
yohannesI can't really give you further assurance than telling you they will be there. If they're not there when shipped out you can always email me and I'll send some out to you.
