The medium tips fit my ears just about perfectly, so I'm not expecting any durability issues that some others have experienced. Immediately noticeable improvement in sound, night and day difference in bass, noise cancellation is improved, and ambient mode is surprisingly way better. Pretty much zero sound difference between ANC/Ambient mode now.
They're a bit more difficult to put in my ears, the silicone tips just stick in any way and are good, but these need to be squeezed and placed in perfectly, and then wait for the foam to slowly expand to fill the space. They wouldn't have that issue if they were a bit deeper to make a better seal, but that's a limitation of the charging case unfortunately. A small price to pay for never having to re-adjust them every few minutes on a run.
The only weird quirk I've found with them, for as much as they improve the sound for ANC/Ambient mode, they inversely destroy the sound when you turn them off and use the regular mode. Like unlistenably bad audio, I don't even know how they are doing it. Not an issue as I've never once actually used them that way though.
I got the multi-pack and I gave the medium to my wife while I'm wearing the large, wow what a difference ! I take the dog for a run in the mornings with my airpods on and every time we get to running I find myself having to shove the airpods back into my ear as they start to slip, not any more !! With these on the airpods have had an octopus like suction grip to my ears they are a perfect fit and it really makes the airpods seem to disappear and be almost weightless I have found myself forgetting my airpods are in my ears at times !
Overview: I love how the foam tips fits in the case which makes it a perfect replacement for the standard tips. One of the primary reason I was in the market for foam-tips is to keep the AirPods in my ears and this does exactly that but it does negatively impact the ambient sound perception in "Transparency" mode which may be a deal-breaker for some people. Sound-wise, bass becomes a little boomier and doesn't sound as "right" as when using the silicon tips. Convenience is also negatively impacted as it is more cumbersome to insert the AirPods into my ears versus the silicon tips. All-in-all, I'd recommend this for those who are looking to solve poor-fitting or loose AirPods issues but I would not recommend this for those who merely wanted to "improve" the sound-quality.
Pros:
Great comfortable fit
Keeps AirPods in ears
Good isolation
Improves Noise Cancelling mode
Fits in AirPods case without any difficulties
Has the same size as Silicon Tips
Washable
Cons:
Negatively impacts "Transparency Mode"
Negatively impacts sound-quality (subjective)
Increased difficulty in inserting the AirPods
Recommended for:
Those who can't get the silicon tips to fit right
Those who are worried that the AirPods might fall out of their ears
Those who desires greater noise cancellation/isolation
Note:
Purchase the size that corresponds to the Silicon Tip that best fits you.
Before these tips, I was using small OEM tips because the mediums didn't hold as well; small ones could just be shoved in. I trusted the hype around these but anxiously picked the mediums as the Apple mediums were just that unusable for me.
These surpassed all my expectations. They completely outdo Apple tips. The foam is flexible, expands quickly... these just create a MUCHbetter seal with your ear. They upgrade noise cancellation/transparency, are more true to your size, and look great.
These are that good.
Size: Large
Fits well in case.
For me: these are too short. I wore them for a few workouts and they kept falling out. The ear test also fails for me on these.
I also purchased the Comply tips, those worked better than Dekoni, they are a smidge longer and still fit in the case just fine as well. They seem poorly made, constantly came off the pod and stayed in my ear when taking them off. The ear test also fails on these for me.
Currently, I’m running the OEM silicon tips with a hollowed out & trimmed foam tip behind them, for a nice solid tip. With this method, the ear test has varying results, I rarely get both ears to pass at the same time.
cut of foam is inconsistent within sizes
no discernable audio quality improvement, perhaps more muffled
ears became very sore after a half day use
threw in garbage
I love the foam tips, the seal is amazing and comfortable, but the plastic bit that clicks on to the earbud it self is very brittle. Other then that great foam tips
went from comply foam to these, and initially didn't think they'd be that different. but the foam quality and seal is just far superior to comply foam. highly recommend!
