Should have made these in velour or suede instead. Leather pads completely destroy the sound of the 598 and 599. I can't speak for the pc37x as I have never heard it but I'm assuming it's the same for that as well. What a waste of a drop

Solderboy23I don't like these "custom" pads at all, I won't lie to you. Sennheiser designed each headphone with a specific pad in mind, so I'll always replace the pads with Sennheiser originals if the need arises. The ones that come with the 598Cs are especially soft and comfortable (fabric).

LuckyLuke575I couldn't agree more with you. In my opinion it's always crucial to replace Sennheiser headphone pads with original OEM pads. Anything else as I said completely cannibalizes the sound for the worst. If someone does choose to place a "custom" pad on a Sennheiser headphone then it's best they stick to as close as possible the original material. That is why I suggested they at least make these pads in Velour or suede instead of leather.

Solderboy23I also would prefer velour or suede, but I have also encountered people who just prefer leather or hate cloth pads. Also, sometimes headphones like this are shared, and sealed pads are easier to sanitize and wipe clean after a sweaty game or unknown number of people studying with the headphones previously. So, this pad is for them, and I’d still take the combo over a Game Zero unless I absolutely needed the closed-back isolation.

Solderboy23I have already tried a leather pad from a different manufacturer and yes, the sound signature is ruined by the leather. I would be interested in a valour, or hybrid version, since my 3y old stock pads are rdy for retirement.
