I'm in the market for replacement pads for my M50x. Can anyone speak as to the differences between the standard leather and sheepskin pads? I'm wondering if it's worth the price premium to go with the skeepskin.

I have tested the velours, hybrids en sheepskin on my M50X.
Sheepskin are worth the upgrade for sure. I have the Brainwavz. They are perfect.

I'm not sure what the hybrids are - have you tried the standard leather (listed as "premium memory foam" on this drop)? I'm really most interested in the comparison between those and the sheepskin version. Velour isn't in consideration for me, personally.

Having tried the Dekoni sheepskin pads for the AKGs, my assumption is that the inner foam is the same for both models. The difference would be in the feel of the leather on the outside. I personally picked up the sheepskin ones on this drop because I really like the quality and feel of the ones for my AKGs.
I would say if you want something extremely soft, the extra money might be worth considering.
In either case, both options would be a step up from the stock pads on the M50. They are great headphones, but the stock pads are not high up for me on the comfort scale.

Brainwavz hybrid. The outer material is PU leather and the inner material is perforated PU leather with the top made from soft velour.

The "premium" model is not actually leather. It's a protein leather, usually eggshell proteins. Pretty durable, not really prone to drying out and cracking like certain leathers, but it's not a sheepskin softness or a cowhide durability.
Mostly, your difference is going to be feel. Do you want the more luxury item, or do you just want an upgrade over stock?

Are you sure about that? The Amazon reviews repeatedly mention that these are real leather.

No, not entirely sure, but it looks synthetic (like typical pleather pads, like ZMF’s protein pads, like the fake leather on my M1060), and why mention sheepskin if you’re not going to say cowhide/goatskin/deerskin/kangaroo/etc.?
