Just received and tested the Memory Foam Leather earpads over few weeks. Tested on: DT770 and DT990 Premium
Pros: Very soft and comfortable. Compared to original velour, works best for people wearing large frame glasses. The frame at the side of your ears just sits there without much appreciated pressure from the pads
Cons: It's greatest sin is the muffling of lower frequencies.
Effect on mids and treble is less so but A/B-ing with original pads, you can tell its about 30% or so. Timbre of female voices is affected most. Sparkle is reduced as well
Effect on bass: The greatest difference is heard in reverbs. Hence, any guitars sounds weird and incomplete for lack of a better word. There is just nothing I can do to "Fix" this issue, I've tried clamping harder, angling the pads to no avail. The only other option is to cut open the pads and add/change the foam with the type found in old Denon pads.
Overall, the pads kill off substantially the life in any music. Tracks sound duller due to the bass getting effected For neutral cans, the effect is less pronounced as heard in DT770. This is my second attempt at non-original pads. I think that's it for me, lesson learnt, back to original Beyer pads

Nope, they are kind of out of my budget. At that kind of price, I would not buy online and try to find them in a physical store.

For the DT770 yes, not the DT990? Heard alphas are no good for 990s but are a step up for 770 (tho will undoubtedly change the sound sig)
