In the event anyone is curious, these are an absolute no-go for HD 598, 599. The bass becomes bloated, you lose virtually all detail. Sad but true, despite them being very comfortable.
How is the sound isolation on this? It appears the material changes the sound profile (which is fine).
Also, do you overheat in these? I wanted to use this on a Game Zero (not the 38X) but they should all be compatible, right?
Not sure if related, but I got Dekoni pads for PC37X from Amazon (seller is Dekoni Audio) for $29.99, item name is "Earpadz Replacement for Sennheiser HD598, PC37x Gaming Headset Ear Pads, Protein Leather Headphone Cushions (Midnight, Black, 1 Pair)". Not sure if it is the same as this product.
If they are similar, I find these pads a mixed result product. On pro side, It is way more comfortable than the original pads, and feels more sturdy too. However, it changes the sound signature completely on PC37X. It is no longer balanced but now bass heavy. It still sounds amazing, but no longer the same headset. Sound isolation is also improved, which is a part of the reason why bass is stronger.
Practically, the pads made PC37X even better for game use now. But lesser a versatile headset.
ccl13Had asbsolutely the same results. I will probably return to the felt pads. But I also have a set of 598C so it's nice to have an extra set of pads for that. (Man, trying to EQ the Dekoni pads on the PC37x drove me nuts!)
MaelWell I bent to the troubles... Use PC37X for gaming anyways so find that boosted bass is fine, at least it is stronger bass but not broken bass or anything distorted (of course except it is strong bass). And because I don't want to go through the trouble to return it.
