Trying to decide about this drop. I have & love the 400i. I would like to know if/ how much the various pads would chance the sound. Does anyone have an opinion? i haven’t seen any graphs, and am concerned.

zanthineNot sure how useful this comment will be...but here goes: I have the 400i headphones with the Brainwavz HE5 Angled Hybrid Earpads. I bought these on the very positive recommendation found on Z Reviews when he reviewed the Hifiman HE400s. Bought them along with some extra rings - broke two rings getting those darn oval earpads onto a round ring and getting them installed onto the headphones - and love the change in sound. Very noticeable increase in solid base, not bloated to me at all, and tamed the high frequencies somewhat. For my aged ears the change was remarkable, and all good. If these offerings from Dekoni do the same thing many folks will be happy - but I have no way to know. Note also that the famed mod company Lawson makes angled lambskin leather pads for the Hifiman series headphone - they look great - but they cost $89! I have never used them or even seen them, so can't comment on how they may or may not change the sound profile. Wish I could find some comparisons online to refer you to, but can find none.

zanthineCorrection: the earpad manufacturer I wanted to review to is Lawton, not Lawson. See: http://www.lawtonaudio.com/hifimananglepads.html

zippledippledooThe seriously scary thing is that I knew what you meant, and still miss-spelled it the same way!
