Just got my pair delivered. Comfort is on par or a bit better than with original velour pads. As for the sound these do change the signature - but in a good way. My modded (bass port mod, external filters removed and internal filters replaced) K7XX now gets a tad bit further in highs - which was to be expected as velour should be a little dampening. There is also a significant change in low end. Already bassy with port mod, these now are a proper basshead cans, though the lowest end seems somewhat less controlled than before. More in quantity but tiny, tiny bit looser.
No change (or I can't hear it) in soundstage (well done). Maybe a little more detailed now, but this may be also sideeffect of better highs extension. I'm to lazy right now to do proper critical A/B listening, just a short session with set of my test tracks as there is no reason to go back to velour stock pads.
Good buy though, would be even better if the price was lower (I got the sheepskin ones).
My setup for standard jacks is Foobar PC->Chord Silver Plus USB->Singxer SU-1->Wireworld Chroma to I2S->Gustard X20Pro->QED Pro RCA->SMSL SAP II Pro. The first part is common with set for my Stax Sr-007 and Sr-009 rig so yes, it is an overkill for K7XX :D
One more thing: a really nice box with magnet lock ;)
Sorry, one more: be careful when mounting tchem for the first time: the locks are brand new and it requires a bit of force to get them so watch for the skin, try not to damage it!

redrich2000Most of them, I think. I have removed external filters (hidden beneath caps with k7xx marking), done the bass port mod (google it) and replaced foam disks placed under pads with rings made of "fizelina" (search Google photos as I have no idea how to call this material in English). These mods give clear treble, very tight and extended bass and remove some of the mid bass. This makes k7xx at the same time clearer and bassier headphone. Try it, all these mods are reversible and can be done under 30 minutes.
