Good build quality poor sound quality
I gave these 3 stars only because I like the build and feel of the pads as well as the ease of assembly. That being said I was not at all satisfied with the loss of sound stage and detail that I lost with these. To my ears ( and I hope all that read this understands that all sound is very subjective to you level of hearing, likes and dislikes). To my ears the tonality and clarity was very much vailed, almost as if the headphones were covered over, they sounded dull not as alive as the stock pads. They are also heavier and quit warmer on longer listening session. I did like that they seemed to lift the phones away from ears more, I could not feel them touching my ears as much. I have replaced these with the stock pads and I enjoy the overal sound much better. I'm also surprised by the lack of bass extension. From the description and other reviews I was expecting more, as I feel that this is the only thing that these electrostates are missing from being absolutely perfect. To sum it all up for the price these did not meet up to my personal expectations, I found them to be lacking. I'm not sure if I will return them or keep them as emergency backups In case my stock pads start to brake down in the future.

Razor74Why don’t you just buy the FA9 and call it a day? Best iems ever.

League544Thanks for the suggestion, but I personally don't care for iems. They never seem to fit my ears comfortably it may just be I have weird shaped ears.

Razor74Have you ever tried bullet /comply? Don’t let it go in your ear, just enough to seal. It feels like there’s nothing in your ears it’s amazing it’s all about the tips anything else feels weird for me.

League544Thanks again i may try those, I have some sennheiser IE800's that I absolutely love the sound they produce but I rarely use them because of the fit.

Razor74I mean if you dropped that much money on an IEM you should definitely, definitely, definitely I mean I beg you to buy Dekoni Bulletz or comply/ any other memory foam. I actually just realize that yesterday I was never fully satisfied with the fit even though these FA9s fit perfectly as if they were made for my ears they were 3-D printed using thousands of peoples ears so that makes sense, BUTTT any of the 15 pairs of silicon tips they included either got itchy/ kept sliding awkwardly in my ears/clogging up as a result or muffling sound. So I said screw it I will go back to the memory foam just to try it on a whim because I never had any issues with the memory foam on my old headphones, PERFECT comfort, they float on your ears, so happy, SCREW “fancy” silicon/spin fits aka clog your ears fits. Memory foam beats everything on earth for comfort, it is the most magnificent material I use it for my bedding I use it for my pillows, I use it for my back support this is the best material humanly possible. Disclaimer: Bulletz are smaller, comply are bigger. I prefer Bulletz for being smaller.

League544Thank you so much for those suggestions, I have ordered both as I don't know which one will have the best fit. I had been considering selling the IE800 because of the fit, but because I love the amazing sound quality when they fit I have kept them and I am now glad that I did. I'm really looking forward to discovering these all over again.

Razor74I’m really excited for you and hear you can’t go wrong with ordering more because I think you have to change them every like five or six months but I’ve had them for a while but unlike silicone tips as you know they wear away but I’m sure you don’t care if you have that kind of money. Haha and 20 bucks every year not a bad price to pay for comfort. Yeah, I’m convinced it’s all about the ear tips unless the actual headphones are digging into your ears, and even then memory foam helps even more because the headphones sort of stick out of your ear or hover in your ears better yet as opposed to going all the way in your ears which is uncomfortable. They seal without going all the way in, feels like there’s nothing there if you can get them perfectly set

League544THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!! Your suggestions were right on, I ordered the Dekoni and the comply and both came in today. I started with the Dekoni and the fit is perfect, it does slightly change the sound a bit, more bass that's not at all a bad thing depending on what I'm listing to. I've been listening none stop for 3hrs now, no discomfort and they stay perfectly in place. I will try the comply's later to see what change if any they will make to the sound. It's been so long since I listened to my IE800 I had forgotten just how truly amazing they sound, coupled with my 789 amp and a geshilli labs dac simply astounding. If you ever have a chance to pick these up don't hesitate, there are many fakes out there if the price seems to good to be true it most likely is. A good used price is $350-500, like anything else do your homework. Again thanks for the recommendations, YOU ROCK!!!

Razor74You’re welcome brother, wow I’m so happy for you :) especially for such expensive headphones, if you want a final solution suggestion for the best pillow ever by the way, it’s the Eden shredded memory foam (blue kind) pillow. I’ve had mine for three years now and it’s still has the same plush as the first day I got it, memory foam is such an incredible material, it’s like it never goes flat/ always contours PERFECTLY. I’ve heard so much about that and I will definitely check it out, your suggestion made me want to, I’ve been thinking about it previously.
