DO NOT BUY. I have a 9560, 4k model, all of the bells and whistles. This was the worst purchase I have made in my life. I have three dead pixels after 6 months, wifi issues, CPU throttling issues, cooling issues, and my model has the high pitch whining sound from the motherboard.
Sure, it is the prettiest laptop. But take your money elsewhere.

Gamuhi have the fully loaded model. No issues with mine however you need to find specific drivers to get everything to work right on Windows. The wifi drivers were bad when i got it, I had to take off the heatsinks, wipe off all the thermal paste (sloppiest job i had ever seen) and repaste myself. fixed the throttle issues though. luckily i dont hear the coil whine on mine. At the end of the day I put linux on it and it works great but i have def heard plenty of people have issues.
i will say the keyboard kinda sucks and the carbon fiber is a complete smudge magnet.

GamuhDead pixels - this is something unusual and rare for XPS laptops, you're just unlucky ;) WiFi issues - known problem on 1st gen of 9560, on 2ng gen they've replaced it with better model. High pitch sound - common problem for XPS and it's present for years, annoys me as well. Overall this is a good model, but the price isn't good enough to buy it, one can find better deals on eBay. Also, it's kinda outdated - my XPS 13 with i7-8550U (15W TDP) is faster than this i5-7300HQ (45W TDP).

DO NOT BUY THIS
The 15.6" 4K models had lots of hardware issues. This WILL ruin your day. Buy laptops from a vendor where you will get real support. I highly suggest buying directly from Microsoft.

If you like photography at a at least semi-professionnal level, LG's great, but I don't know so much about their phones

I would suspect that calling it the "XPS 15" might lead to confusion as the 2018 model is now available and has been revised. Link here:http://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/dell-laptops/new-xps-15/spd/xps-15-9570-laptop.
The latest generation is getting an AMD graphics card not Nvidia's 1050ti (though the graphics capabilities are comparable) and it is integrated into the 8th Gen. Intel CPU which is a very interesting business venture seeing as the 2 company's are direct competitors. There are numerous other changes including the keyboard, software UI stuff, peripheral hardware has been reduced to just USB-C and thunderbolt and im pretty sure the model in the massdrop sale does not fold flat into tablet mode (The new one does).
I would say weigh your options and decide what is more important to you features wise. Considering the new model is starting at the same price comparably equipped minus a 4k screen, this is not the best deal to come along.
MikeyBonsaiTo add to that, the latest laptops are 9x70 models, while 2017 is 9x60, and 2016 models are 9x50.
x = 5 for the 15 inch ("XPS15"), 3 for the 13 inch ("XPS13")
You are correct, 9560 models aren't convertibles, no tablet mode.

This isn't that great of a deal. I have an xps15 that I got last summer for $1050 after deals and what not. I did not get the 4k display, but I got 16gb ram and a 512gb ssd instead. The display is still gorgeous.

I think this is a pretty good deal, especially if you want a new 9560 with these specs.
If you'd be interested in refurbished 9560s, or 9560's with different specs, I'd recommend checking out Dell Outlet. Though currently the same specs would cost you $1400 on Dell Outlet certified refurbished (Which is why I say this is a good deal for a new laptop), if you're okay with waiting around for one of their promotions you might be able to purchase a better configuration for a comparable price.

Nice title bait, why would people pay this high for i5-7300HQ model, it's 7th, and it's an i5.

i5 and i7 *kinda* correspond to the core count. Very generally, i5 means 4 core and i7 means 4 core with hyperthreading. The 7300HQ is the part that changes each gen where 7XXX means 7th gen. After that things get pretty arbitrary. In the context of a single gen, a bigger number is usually better. The HQ suffix means it actually has 4 real cores and a higher TDP (i.e. more powerful because it literally consumes more power), whereas a U suffix would mean it has 2 cores with hyperthreading and a lower TDP. But the meaning of that end part could change from gen to gen.

Don’t get this unless you really can’t see yourself using four cores anytime in the foreseeable future. Microsoft store sells the 8th gen signature edition for this same price.

The price seems pretty good for this...I know its getting a refresh pretty soon. Does anyone have a take on this drop?
DDDDDUnlike the other users who wouldn't know a good deal if it bit them in the ass, I'd say this is a great deal if you don't need the latest and greatest processor. The refresh will be nearly identical except with the 8th gen processor instead of 7th as this has. This drop has the discrete GTX-1050 graphics, and 4k screen, the refresh at $1399 has 1080p screen and 1050ti though it does have the i7 vs. the i5 in the drop. The 4k screen is typically like a $400 upgrade from Dell, so I think that's a better value than the i7.
This drop would be good for light gaming at pretty good settings, just about any work you can throw at it, and should last you as a home and work computer for quite some time to come. I have the 13" from when they refreshed to the this body styling (about 5 years old), and it runs flawlessly and is still pretty fast, though it doesn't have discrete graphics so can't do much in the way of gaming.

What's up with the generic title and not calling it "Dell XPS 15"?
