I’m just curious if it’s better then SMSL D1. I’ve collected enough cans and amps and now looking at dacs.
It sounds so much better, it's not even close. But objectively worse on paper, because of R2R.
Yes its a better Dac. These type of Dacs make the sound NOT flat. You buy this dac if you plan on not buying an EQ. The make the music more enjoyable. But you can get the RME-ADI-2 DAC for this price. Much better features and a solid 1/4 out.
I think I might jump on it being that I've got plenty of amps. I only use xlr. RME-ADI=2 has eq right?
parametric equalizer with 20 presets to store them.
Yes it has EQ, its a really nice DAC/AMP. Get the THX 789 for balanced if you want to run 4 PIN XLR. The RME-ADI2 has 3 pin XLR out on the back, so you can hook up the THX 789. I have had mine for a few months and I still do not all the features it has, but its amazing. You are def getting your $$$ worth with that product. The 1/4 out sounds better than the THX 789 IMO.
It has Loudness correction, so you can set a ref vol level, add + or - Bass or trouble, you can manully adjust the EQ too, Q, wave, all that stuff, and it comes with 20 presets also. You can also do quick - or + bass or trouble adjustments, on the fly, witch is sick.
I went with the drop option. I don’t use eq. I just want to try this resistor ladder sound over my D1 and topping D10
You are in for some fun... just saw you have the drop/airist r-2r,, you must;) give us a report...
I will report back this is all new territory for me.
