Scratch my previous statement, the one I found is refurbished. I apologize for not reading more carefully earlier.

You'll get a better phono preamp out of a dedicated unit, anyway.

Unfortunately this is the model that does not have Audyssey MultiEQ XT. I have heard the 1713 and this one and the 1713 simply blows it away with the number of equalizing points it has with MultiEQ XT. I would recommend against this unit for that reason.
I checked http://usa.denon.com/ and it shows the 1913 and 1613 having multeq, and the 1713 having multeq xt. i have no doubt that the highest model in the line has the best version, it just seems that even denon are misrepresenting their own gear. http://usa.denon.com/us/Product/Pages/ProductComparision.aspx?CatId=avreceivers(denonna)&pids=avr1913(denonna)|avr1713(denonna)|avr1613(denonna) and the audyssey site lists the same http://www.audyssey.com/products?field_multeq_flavor_value%5B%5D=MultEQ&pid=44&ptype=5 *edit* http://www.avsforum.com/t/1409431/the-official-denon-avr-xx13-model-owners-thread-faq explicitly says the 1913 doesn't have xt and the 1713 does

Jon, you are correct. I got my numbers mixed up, I have the 1713, not the 1913. I also thought their high end model would have the best version of Audyssey but it doesn't. So my argument was that the 1713 would've been a better drop than this 1613, the price difference is marginal.

Missing a phono input?
shazznerI think most manufacturers omit the phono input these days.
