Used can be had for usually around 250-300. Sometimes lower if the cable is in bad shape. If you must have new, you'll not find a better price. I picked mine up for $250 used around February this year and then sent to Martin @ martincustomaudio.com to get recabled and wood cups. Wood cups were just cosmetic for me but recable was necessary because the standard cable is really long and has issues with fraying.
I use them a lot over my HE-400 mainly because of how light they are comparatively. HE-400 are amazing but damn can they feel heavy, especially if I'm doing a long gaming session.
Yeah, these are expensive. D2K's float around for $200 used so if you want to buy D2000's, get them used. When they were still being produced they retailed for $200 shipped, so this is a lot more. For the same price, one should really consider the Mad Dog T50rp or Hifiman HE-400, both with similar (Most people will argue better even) sound signatures.
I actually already own the Mad Dogs, with both dog pads and Alpha pads. I just find them heavy and uncomfortable and they can get quite hot, especially with the new alpha pads. I have Q701 and HD598, which I love, but I'm looking for something closed (I know the isolations sukcs on the D2000 but it doesn't bother me) , I'm more interested the closed back sound not the isolation, and comfort.
D2k-like signature = Mr Speakers Mad Dog's with Alpha Pads? Hmm, I haven't heard that one before.

I love my Mad Dogs, very comfortable, not heavy and not hot. I have heard such characteristics apply to the HE-400 (particularly them being heavy) but I have no issues with my mad dog's.

Just my opinion.
FurobinsI know they're not in production. And I think this is a very reasonable price compared to what others are asking. I'm really regretting not getting d5000 before they went out of production.
For those saying they should be priced at $250, can you please point to where you found them for this price. I've been looking for a pair for a while, but haven't found anything. Even the used one's cost more than $340.
The problem is that these aren't headphones anymore; they're out-of-production collector's items. So you're paying for the rarity, rather than the performance. For a similar price, you can get the replacement-series D600, which seem to rate favorably to the D2000 yet are still considered to be $50-100 overpriced.
thesociirDont EVER recommend the D600 as a replacement again. It isn't and will never be. Don't follow the mindless zealots, have a look at the Denon D600 launch thread on head-fi, I made some big comments (that got slated) for discrediting the inexperienced Flavour-of-the-month idiots that reviewed them saying they are great, and then later on I was proved right by people who had both and who had experience saying the D600 was SH*T.
Agreed on the pricing. The pricing should start at $250 for individual buyers. Then it should get lower after that considering the group buying incentive. $340 is redic.
I would love a pair of these, but the price even with 20 buyers is just too steep. As WiR3D said, these were selling new for ~$250. Might as well put this money towards a used D7000 if you really want a DX000 headphone.
