Sure the carbon fiber might be a tad better, but the design looks like a complete rip from Elephant Wallet.
Also, getting the metallic red from massdrop will cost me MORE than getting it direct from DFW. So much for group buy purchasing quantities.

I was not a fan of his wallet. My money always fell out and had to be folded. Cards were a pain to use and cash had to be taken out of band and unfolded.
ultralightAre you referring to the elephant wallet product or to ours? Cash does have to be taken out and unfolded but using cards is very easy if you use the fanning method of presenting the cards with our wallet: use the finger notch to partially push the cards out, and then press the carbon together in the vacated portion to fan the cards open. Makes picking an individual card out, even if it's in the center of the stack, very easy

DFWcompositesThey are the same thing. Just different name. I'm just giving an honest review. The fanning method works when you can take your time. Otherwise they fall out or multiple come out. It's just a hassle to use .

For those curious about what the wallet looks like when loaded with both cards and cash, here's a photo for you. You can easily fit 10 bills double folded beneath the band. You can fit even more if you give them just one fold.

is this wallet basically 2 pieces of carbon fiber plates held together with a rubber band ?

ermineSeems like it, yes.
ermineHi Ermine, To put it in its most basic terms, yes (although it's a woven elastic band rather than a vulcanized rubber band - it's more of an elastic fabric). Our way of looking at it is that it's a full gloss set of carbon cards made using our proprietary vacuum infusion process that allows for mirror-quality gloss inside and out, that is CNC cut and then hand sanded. If you abstract and distill most things down to their basic levels, you can usually call them 'basically this + that'. There are plenty of wallets on MD that are 'basically just leather and thread'. Just our two cents :)

The Elephant Wallet N model is $5 cheaper and you don't have to wait for it to be shipped.. just a heads up. I've used Elephant Wallet for years and have been nothing but satisfied.

Yes it is. I've had two wallets from them so far, one was plain aluminum (the X Wallet) and the one I currently use, the black aluminum (N Wallet)
I leaned towards the N Wallet because of the "Insert Key" system that they have. You can carry two standard keys in it and also some coins, which I find to be very useful.
ynrozturkHey there, So it is true that the base elephant wallet is cheaper, but there are a couple of things to keep in mind: Elephant wallet ships their products from Europe, so their shipping expenses for people stateside are actually quite high which in itself negates any price advantage. Next, their carbon is inferior to ours, plus we offer extra weave options to really make our product unique over theirs. Our carbon has a full gloss surface, inside and out. Theirs is a dull matte, and that isn't by design: their process (rather, the company they buy their carbon from; they don't make it in house like we do) doesn't allow for a full gloss surface off the bat so they settle for a matte finish on one side and a very dull matte finish on the reverse 'inner' layer. You'll also notice pinholes if you know what you're looking for - they're apparent even on their marketing images on their website. Finally, and most importantly, I think we have them beat on customer service. It looks like you had a good experience with them, which is great, but if you go back and look at the drops that they've done there are quite a few complaints in the discussion thread about delayed and lost shipments. They're also completely MIA from the threads themselves. If you look back at our drops on MD, you'll see good customer satisfaction + full engagement with the MD community.

I'm interested by the red twill with red band; is there a way to specify band color?
BobrazHey Bobraz - it appears that the Massdrop guys might've left that option out. If you would like a special color (blue, green and red are available on top of the stock black) we can definitely make that happen. Just make a purchase on the drop and then get in touch with us at support@dfwcomposites.com. We'll be sure to send you your wallet with the band color of your choice. Sorry for the inconvenience but we'll definitely get you taken care of.
What happened to this drop? It appeared and then disappeared two days later. Was the limit that small and reached so quickly, without warning?
