A couple things to note. This game has a steep learning curve. There is a nice little guide that walks you through the first play, but it is a pretty complex ruleset even for experienced gamers. Expect your first few plays to be pretty tedious as you constantly refer back to the rules. It isn't a quick little game that you and your friends can just jump right into. Also, if you really want to get into it, you will need more than one core set to be competitive. Not trying to discourage anyone-I just bought into all the hype about this game and then realized when I picked it up that it is much more involved than I thought it would be. I spent a weekend organizing all the cards (which you'll need to find a way to store or they all just sit loosely in that giant box), grinding through several games with my brother to get the hang of it, and now it has been collecting dust for months. Not for the casual gamer.
