With shipping, this is $0.01 cheaper than my local game store is selling boxes (each - there's an even cheaper price if you buy a case, all taxes included). And I can get the cards on release day. Massdrop, you should focus on finding and doing bulk buys of older product, like Zendikar or Modern Masters boxes, where they are harder to find without your group buying power, and where the market is less saturated.

DigrenThanks for the feedback @Digren. We definitely want to do as much for the community as possible on all of the products that you want.
When it comes to hard-to-find, out of print boxes, the bulk discount model doesn't work as well as you would hope. It turns out that it is reasonable to find one or two boxes at a lower-than-market price, but the general response to asking for large quantities is a price hike.
Offering boxes for new sets does a couple of things that work out well for the community. First of all, there are players that aren't so lucky to have local game stores selling their boxes under $100 (especially following a recent price hike on wholesale prices). Making sure that everybody gets access to these prices is one of our main functions in the community.
The other great thing about these drops is that they are the bread and butter for some of our vendors that might have some of those scarcer products once in a while and are willing to give us access to make sure that we come back for the new set releases. The potential size of those drops is not really large enough to drive a good relationship with those vendors and helping those vendors get these boxes out to the community really makes it worth it for everyone.

DigrenWhile I agree with just about everything you said, one thing to remember is that this drop can also be aimed at people who (sadly) don't have a local game store where they can buy and play with the cards.

cameronbachmanThanks for the response. This does seem to be a pretty successful drop for you so far given the number of units sold, and the price is good if the buyers aren't in an area with quality local stores.
