Was there a thought to making 3 sizes an 18-19 seems like a pretty short max size. for me I would need at least a 20 but really 21. Is there a tall size potentially in the future or is the 2 sizes the long term plan.

Greg2I'm not sure if the recommended torso size range for the M/L is finalized, but distance between the hipbelt and shoulder straps is very close to the L size for a lot of other brands (e.g. HMG) which is often rated at 19-20" or even 19-21", plus this pack has load lifters so you can ensure that the load is pulled against your back as long as your shoulders aren't higher than those. It's about 21" from the center of the hipbelt to the top of the frame/load lifters, so I think the M/L works pretty well for folks in the 18-20" range, and then the S/M is about 2" shorter, so it's suited for 15-18". All that is to say, and 20-21" you might find that it works but it's on the edge. As for your question, all of this is constrained by minimum ordering quantities and I'm not privy to all of that information, but I suspect a larger size would be justifiable in the future if the pack is popular enough, but for now it's probably a challenge to offer it in even two sizes when interest is unknown, so I can't see an even larger size happening soon but maybe down the road. I suspect any long term plan for options (e.g. sizing, colors, materials) really hinges on how much interest there is.

dandurstonI am 180cm (5'11''), which I do not consider tall. Nevertheless, for anything other than climbing, I want my packs to be at least 55cm (21.5'') from the center of the hipbelt to the top of the frame/load lifters. Load lifters just don't make any sense if they do not have a positive slope (shoulder strap side of the load lifter lower than the backpack/frame side).

dafraThat's fair. I agree a load lifters should be at a positive angle. I don't think they need to be up at 45 degrees, but at least 15-30 degrees to work nicely.

dandurstonI'd think that with the wildly popular and overwhemingly successful and continued demand for the X-Mid1, that led to the current demand and creation of the X-Mid2 version of the same tent, anything with your name on it would be justification enough to produce the proper sizes to satisfy the masses. Obviously, I'm someone with a 21" torso.
