Got mine today. However, the muppets at Drop managed to state the value as $150 instead of the actual $120, causing higher customs and VAT charges. Hooray. The pack looks good though.
YogaBearSorry about that. Perhaps you can file for a rebate? I've done that here in Canada when the listed value was too high. Might not be worth the hassle though.

dandurstonThanks Dan, not your fault. I’ve gone over the pack and really like it. About 5 times I thought «I wish they’d add a ... - oh, there it is!». Very well thought out, Dan, can’t wait to try it out!

YogaBear@dandurston would it be possible to confirm whether Drop normally states the preorder value for international shipments? I have preordered the DD40 and after paying almost €100 or $120 of customs/VAT charges for my X-Mid 1P in Belgium, I was really hoping that the backpack's value would be declared as $120. This would make a huge difference, because orders with a value higher than $150 are taxed more expensively (higher percentage and customs charges).
BoostinatorGood question. I understand that is important. Drop normally states the shipping value as the price paid (e.g. should be $120). In this case they may have made a mistake because the last shipment was a mix of orders at $120 and $150. I think they will list it at $120 for your order, but it's not in my control so I can't be certain they will do that.

dandurston@dandurston Thank you for the swift reply. I totally understand that this is beyond your control. Fingers crossed that they list the actual price paid.

dandurstonI had a conversation with Haley at support. The first answer from Drop was: «[the backpack] was $150. Even though you were refunded $30, the value of the item remains at $150. How much you pay does not decide the items value, it is how much we are selling the item for, regardless of sale or discount». Now this is simply incorrect, at least by my national laws, as the value for Customs is what was actually paid for the item. If I had used a coupon or similar then yes, that is a form of payment, and should be included in the value. I asked for a second opinion from Drop, and it’s been quiet since that. Not that I want a reimbursement or anything, I just don’t want them to do this again.
YogaBearI believe you are correct. The listed value should be the price paid. I doesn't make sense to pay tax on an amount other than the purchase price. Fedex: "value is the price an end buyer pays for a product. With business to customer shipments, it'll also usually be the declared value."

EasyShip: "declared value for customs = price at which the item sold" I know that is normally how Drop does it because I bought the Fizan poles on sale here a month or two ago where the price was $40 instead of $60 and my package arrived with a $40 declared value.
