Best Premium Hot Swappable Keyboard from the Factory
This is my first hot swappable keyboard and so far I am enjoying it. Previously, I had to solder each switch onto the pcb but that was too time consuming and sometimes annoying. To my surprise after assembling this keyboard, it has a very nice premium feeling to it. This is partially because I did some nice mods to it. I used the old switches which are lubed gateron yellows with films that I had in my previous board where I had to desolder switches out. The hot swappable sockets took the old soldered switches very well and all switches on the board are working. Next, I used the old stabs from my previous board as I heard some pretty bad reviews regarding the ones that comes with the ALT. I lubed, bandaid mod, clipped the old stabs. Then, I added a thin foam pad between the metal plate and pcb to reduce some case ping. Lastly, I threw on some SA profile keycaps for those fingertip cupping experience. The final result is you get a nice typing experience with some fine thoccing acoustics.
The only con I have with this board is the configurator. I wish DROP would come out with a better configurator than using QMK. As a first time user, it is not intuitive and there were some issues where I had to download another person's build to be able to flash my own ALT keyboard. This is where I dock one star from this review.
Here are two pictures of my newly built keyboard:
