Product Description
The Drop ALT mechanical keyboard is just like the CTRL, but with 67 keys instead of 87. Absent of function keys, it wastes no space—but it still has a full set of arrows and numerals Read More

A picture of the stock Drop ALT layout. The bottom modifiers are 1.25u keys. The right shift is 1.75u (red means atypical). The far right column is red because those keys are typically on different rows (being compared to a standard TKL or ANSI 104). This is significant because keycaps like Cherry, OEM, MT3, and SA are non-uniform. That means that different rows on the keyboards have different side profiles. This post by RedSuns is really good. View the images and row profile identifiers for the different kits of GMK Red Samurai to picture how the keys have been moved around to accommodate for the 65% layout. https://drop.com/buy/drop-redsuns-gmk-red-samurai-keycap-set/talk/2450958?utm_source=linkshare&referer=BPKDQH

Probably would have gone with the ducky mecha mini if I didn't use arrows like a n00b. Picked this over the Tada68. Dropped some gatey greens in for that thicc clicc. + SA Pulse set and it's very nice to type on. #noragrets

Hi! Need an experts help. I’m interested in getting this board. Will the C3 tangerine switches (i will link below) fit this board? If so, which stem? 67g or 62g? Im new to this :) https://thekey.company/collections/in-stock/products/c3-tangerine-switches-r2

There are 2 mounting styles for MX switches. PCB mount has 2 extra plastic legs. The PCB on the CTRL and ALT does NOT have extra holes to support these switches. People make PCB mount fit by cutting off these legs. Also, spring weight is personal preference

Just set this up, and a bunch of keys do not work. (qrtyihjk'35= and three of the arrows keys to be specific). I moved the switches around to test them and those are not defective. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Ok, it sounds like I noob'd. Without relieving myself of the responsibility, it'd be nice if these keyboards came with a simple notice to prevent these type of mistakes. While obviously I should have been more careful about the straight pins, I did not apply strong pressure, which means these things are fairly delicate. Again, my bad, but a notice would have prevented this as well.

We've all been there. :) I usually just put it in the trash and forget it happened. Good on MD for covering you.

I purchased this board and the tab, W and /? key have receiving prongs on the PCB that are not separated and won't allow the bottom connector on switches to slot in (notice the right receiving prong has a wide space between the two prongs). Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this or can I buy a new PCB? Very upsetting for such an expensive product to have this issue.

Remove the bottom plate so you can access the PCB and use a pair of tweezers to pinch the contacts together. That should fix it. I have tested this before by intentionally increasing the gap such that a switch does not reliably work and resolving the issue by pinching the contacts in the hot swap socket until they maintain contact with an installed switch pin.

The gap beside the arrow key still bothers me to no end. Not sure why there isn't a 1U Alt, FN, and Ctrl instead.

I can understand that, though since I rarely use the right-hand modifier keys (and wouldn’t even think of a right-side FN key), I would prefer it this way: bigger modifier keys, and space to make the arrow keys feel separate from the rest of the keyboard. Different folks, different (key)strokes. I haven’t tried this keyboard in person though, so maybe I’d be leaning more to your opinion about having a gap if I took it from theory to experience.

If you want the FN key and standard-sized keys right up against the arrow keys, maybe this one is to your liking: https://drop.com/buy/nym96-aluminum-mechanical-keyboard?utm_source=linkshare&referer=Z2JXCA

I'd really love to purchase the barebones set with the full set's included keycaps. I have a set of Zilents for the board, but in order to get the keycaps, I have to order a board with included switches for $40-60 more. Any chances of a $160 option with the board and keycaps?
