must add a plastic LED diffuser for (+ $10) to install this case? Where do you get this diffuser from?

As you point out yourself, some people already have one. Likely many people don't want a second lying around and saving $10 is a nice perk too. They could have just as easily set the price to $140 and had the option to remove the diffuser and subtract $10 from the cost, but that's just semantics.

Correct, but if someone already owns one, they may not need/want another.
"Furthermore, people with original MassDdrop ALT have to buy it anyway."
This is why the diffuser is being offered as an add-on. As the note on the overview says "Owners of the Massdrop ALT and Massdrop ALT High-Profile Keyboard must add a plastic LED diffuser for (+ $10) to install this case."

My point was:
It's optional if you're replacing the case of a Drop ALT.
It's required if you're replacing the case of a Massdrop ALT.

Also do you plan redesigning pcb? With sounthfacing switches and pcb mount switches compatible? This would be awesome :)

I don't really care about the RGB, but I would definitely upgrade my PCB for PCB mount. I think PCB mount is a win-win for Drop and the community.

Sorry for the confusion. The estimated ship date has always been August 31 even though the product pages mistakenly says the 3rd. If you are unwilling to wait, you may request a cancellation for a refund.

Hey Drop.....I hope you guys are taking notes that users are looking for more muted colors like this off white vs the lilac, lime, and artic pastel color cases you were offering.

i was thinking this might be my 8th 65% board but this time in the color I have wanted to get for years and for a good price. Mind you I have to ad shipping to EU and add 21% vat plus 11% customs so this board would be around $190. And I’m willing to fork out all that money but then I saw north facing leds! And that’s a BIG no go for me. Why you may ask? North facing leds and keycap comparability don’t go together I should no I had to swap a couple of cherry profile caps with OEM just to get the home row to feel normal and or bump up the keycap. I expected more from drop. Guess not everyone has figured this out.. perhaps in v3 guy’s greetings from the Netherlands

TuxKeyThey just need to make shinethrough keycaps on bottom side and problem solved - you can have sounthfacing keyboard! It is isn't that hard.

These arguments are one same argument - standart shine through keycaps are made incorrectly. So they just need to change keycaps. Problem solved? Sounthfacing leds are always better because they are compatible with ALL keycaps. By the way drop indeed sells gmk red samurai, which are cherry and which because of northfacing leds are not fully ocmpatible (only with some switches). Drop alt is quite high end board so it should have sounthfacing leds!

It has MT3 Susuwatari keycaps on there, at least you can see how the profile looks. Also there is a website you can go to and you can plug in the hexadecimal colors for the alphas/modifiers and you can see a 3d render of it and turn it around /Flip it over etc. I'll try to find it again

ItscboYou could always find a local shop to refinish an existing case. It will likely be pricier, but you can pick any color you want.

The customer communication regarding this product is unprofessional. The ship date on the product page is still listed as August 3rd. There's a comment in the discussion section communicating that the new date (yes it's new to the customers, regardless of what the ship date "always has been" internally at Drop) is August 31st. Except that's not right either, it's actually September 10th, again, if you read the discussion. Come on, Drop.
Edit: I just noticed Drop emailed me on 8/20 regarding the delay. That’s great. While the other issues persist, there’s not much more one could ask for regarding a delay besides this notification and refund opportunity.
