What is SpaceFN and why you should give it a try
The SpaceFN concept - setting up your space key as a layer switch when held - is probably one of the most useful tweaks in the keyboard hobby. Let me explain how it works. My SpaceFN article on kbd.news made some rounds recently - quite surprisingly given the age of this concept. This piece you're reading is a condensed version of the full post. If you're left with unanswered questions, you'll most likely find the info you're looking for in the original write-up. On my imaginary top list of the most useful keyboard features, tweaks and hacks, SpaceFN would deserve a podium finish for sure. But what makes it so special? In short: SpaceFN is easy to implement, easy to learn, costs nothing, can be used with any keyboard, and can improve your productivity instantly. All of this being said, you don't need to buy any switches if you get this drop with the keycaps and switches. Not only that, but Cherry switches are overall pretty mediocre compared to other MX switch manufacturers' offerings these days. All of the switches in this drop are almost assuredly better than their Cherry equivalent, so just pick the linear option (Kailh Speed Silver) and enjoy. I encourage you to look up switches in case you'd like something different from what this drop provides, but still want the stock keycaps. if you want linear switches for the board, then Cherry MX Red RGB switches would work. This page has an example image of the difference between the normal and RGB versions of a Cherry switch: https://m.hexus.net/tech/news/peripherals/85265-cherry-mx-silent-mechanical-keyswitches-launched/
What wouldbe the difference between this and let's say a GK64. Like o said fairly new at this and looking up options!
