Read into BMR drivers and thier weakness is bass. Buyers will be frustrated with this if its being released as a 2.0.

kdipi"they are weakness is bass"
kdipiWe do want to be clear that the frequency response ranges from 80Hz - 24kHz +/-6.0 dB. It does have a sub-output for use with any powered subwoofer, too. I would say it won’t be ideal for dubstep or pipe organs without a sub, but plenty for most PC uses in gaming, YouTube, and more laid back music listening. Also, most music mastered for good playback on vinyl will not sound lacking! But you can always add whatever subwoofer you feel is necessary.

kdipiBMR sounds like it protects speakers by limiting the bass output. Maybe it is a compromise of the tech. Or maybe it is just an excuse for a lack of bass. I know if they sounded good, they would be more popular.

Evshrug"80Hz - 24kHz +/-6.0 dB. " That is some terrible ratings to claim, and trying to make them seem better than they are to the uneducated. What is the -3db point in FR?

EniGmA1987I don’t know yet. The product manager said it has a “balanced but somewhat fun sound,” so I’m guessing it has a bit of midbass elevation before it slopes off. In other words, not linear studio reference sound. I think we’ll see graphs when they’re ready, but I expect sub bass will require a sub… but the speakers by themselves could be tuned like Koss KSC75, but the sub bass rolls off faster. So, it ought to be nice with rock, alt, jazz, etc, and have a nice spatial sense compared to headphones, but without a sub it wouldn’t be ideal for DnB, EDM, or the new Rap/Pop that uses heavy synthetic bass. But most speakers don’t have full extension into sub bass unless they literally have a big subwoofer driver built in.

EvshrugRight, most speakers are sold in an array to cover the entire frequency range. A smaller tweeter and a stronger driver for the bottom end. BMR tech is not a solution to what you are talking about. I would not say these will sound nice in any genre. There will be genres that dont expose their weaknesses as much. But it is a stretch to suggest they would be anyone’s go to choice based on the BMR design. Also, you would have to be an audiologist to balance a random sold separate sub with these weird little desktop stereo sound bars. I doubt they improve spatial performance much over nice headphones. Maybe closed back headphones, but any speaker would get the same advantage of not being a headphone. It is a bit of a stretch to act like these deserve credit for not being headphones that have inherit problems with spatial performance because they sit on your head. I get that you are trying to help sell the speakers, but your response lacks substance. Flaws in other designs do not make the BMRs a solution. You cant say headphones are bad at this so the BMR’s should be better at that. Thats apples and oranges. Also, Fun and balanced almost made me laugh so hard I spit out my drink. That is the generic sound I expected. What else can you say about laptop speakers? Just be real and say they will be good for youtube and causal gaming/netflix. Not bad for streaming generic music while you study or work. Everyone talking about performance beyond that is expecting too much. Matching your keyboard is why you buy these. And thats ok. Talking about their performance as if it is key to the design is silly.

TruthhuntI am astonished at the amount of energy you have put in to telling everyone how bad this sounds even though you have not heard it yet. You make these comments with such conviction. I'm not even trying to argue, I'm genuinely curious as to what makes you such an authority on the sound. I will gladly eat my words is you are right and these sound terrible but so far all I've heard is you hate them cause BMR / Gamers don't know audio.

Ricky-BobbyThe response is overblown but I see it as an issue with being a disappointing product. I owned 2.0 speakers(Gigaworks t40) and sold them because of the weak low end.

Ricky-BobbyThank you for thinking about me so much and matching my energy. It is simple to look at this crap product and call it a turd without hearing it. Sorry that it rocks your world so hard to hear a negative opinion on some random internet junk. You dont need to be an expert to know what to expect from the BMR’s. But I can understand what is being sold if that makes me an expert. You keep wanting to make this about me instead of speakers. I would not speak at all if I did not have conviction. Im not here looking for opinions. Im here to give mine. As far as authority, Im plenty comfortable to be my own boss. Sorry if you need consensus or authority to form your opinions. Im not applying for a job, so I am not giving you a resume. It takes practice but you can form your own opinions and not care if people disagree. You are welcome to enjoy these gamer desk decorations that also make noise. But they are barely even speakers at all. They call it technology, I call it half of a speaker. They show you the missing parts and act like they improve the sound. Doing that makes it smaller, not sound better.
