The price seems quite high on these for a small speaker and a crappy built-in amp. Closer to $79-89 seems more appropriate than $129. At the price you expect to charge for these, I would expect a much better quality amp. THD of .4% in a 1khz rating instead of full range (20hz-20khz) is pretty bad, especially since that is a rating at a lower power level edit: Given the truly awful frequency response I see you claim these to have (in comments area), you really should have just used the BMR driver as the highs and mids and replaced the passive radiator at the bottom with an oval-shaped dynamic woofer for the lows with a crossover around the 150-180hz area. That larger passive you have right now is not helping you with anything useful if you still only get to 80hz as your -6db point with it. That means probably closer to 120hz as the more standard -3db rating. Also, rating the frequency response with a non-standard -6 instead of the industry standard -3 is a bit dishonest.

EniGmA1987*Edited to remove comment about no bluetooth phone connection. Add in the fact these have an extremely limited use case with limited connection options on the I/O panel. For the level of sound quality being sold, these should just be true bluetooth wireless (including L/R link and power) to actually clean up the ugly cheap wires. They dont even deliver on making the desk look cleaner than bigger wired ones do, and I will have to play with wires if I want a different source? Irony is these are basically a waste of soace bc they wont sound good and have limited uses. With that high price they could have included mic and headphone pass thru if keeping the wires. Or at least a better amp. Maybe a usb pass thru. Anything to make them more useful than external laptop speakers. Even in the world of small speakers, these are disappointing. Granted, I expect these to be on sale every single holiday. But will still be over priced on discount. Matching your keyboard must be more important than sound for these to have a market at that price. I see $49 written all over them at walmart for basic wired low power lowfi speakers. Dont forget that everything you need to “fix” that frequency curve is sold separately. Thanks for the sub out, but real drivers would have been better.

PromNightFetusOk thanks, I was not clear in making my point. I stand corrected on the phone connection. But I was meaning true wireless. Even battery power option. Which would make taking them with the laptop handy. And they have a very limited I/O board compared to most stand alone powered options. The whole marketing is to save space and clean up the desk. The wires ruin the theme of the objective, IMO. Sound quality was bot the objective. Saving space and changing grills are what is being sold. With all those wires it is only doing one one of those jobs well. Holding up the grills.

EniGmA1987So your suggestion is to add two dynamic woofers and charge half the price??? Might as well throw in a free sub while they are at it.. I mean, how much could that all cost anyway.. $10 I'm all for dunking on brands/products that are a clear ripoff, but these comments are just delusional.

Ricky-BobbyYou do realize that the larger passive radiator would be replaced by the oval woofer right? That saves the cost of that piece right there. And given the price point of these speakers it isn't like they would be expected to use a $60 woofer, they would use something closer to $15. Which since they are replacing another part would probably only raise the price by around $20 for the pair and vastly improve the frequency response.

EniGmA1987Ok, but the passive radiators are just that, passive, no magnets. A powered woofer has a magnet on it. I can't image swapping one for the other wouldn't result in an increased cost to make. That excludes the extra engineering needed to get it working right. Couple that with the fact that there is no way Drop is negotiating volume discounts at the same scale as just about any other established speaker brand and I can see this costing a lot more than you think it does to make. If I'm reading you correctly, the selling price with the new woofers would then be $110, so $20 less than they are trying to sell these for while adding considerabl costs to parts and engineering... Correct me if I'm wrong but that seems like an unrealistic expectation.

Ricky-BobbyEhem... On the cost side this pair, 700g, mostly what is plastic, would cost like what? $30? $35? Maybe even $40. For me, they are big and simple no.

Dracon__ArkhonOh my... So we are guessing wholesale costs based on the weight of the raw materials used now??? These aren't avocados or beans hahaha.

Ricky-BobbyYeah mate, except that I used to be involved in speaker production - and actually they have...

Dracon__ArkhonDrop isn't really a speaker company though, the quantities they are releasing are super small so I have to assume you were negotiating costs on a significantly larger scale..

Dracon__ArkhonAlso, I just took the bait and actually believed you for a second. Now I feel dumb lol. If by "involved in speaker production" you mean stuffing kilos of goods sold by weight into speakers before shipping then I could buy that. If that is the case please forget I said anything I'll be moving along now sorry for bothering you.

Ricky-BobbyLoL Language, mate, language... I meant REAL speakers - 45 kg a piece. And you would be quite surprised how cheap an actual tweeter, sqawker or woofer is when you buy it from a mass producer...
