Drop + Boba.Types DCD Lunar New Year Keycap Set

[image] Finally decided to put together a build with the Boba.Types DCD Lunar New Year keycaps. This is my third set of DCD keycaps, and my second set of reverse dye sub DCD keycaps. My last review featured a pre-production set of DCD keycaps, which had some of the common issues associated with reverse dye-sub (https://drop.com/talk/131796/what-to-expect-from-reverse-dye-sub-keycaps). This set, however, I picked up for myself with a DKC coupon during pre-order, so I was pleased to find that these issues were far less prevalent in this Lunar New Year production run. [image] Boba.Types did a fantastic job with the design and theming of this set. The red and gold color scheme complement each other perfectly, and the subtle contrast between the reds in the alphas and mods works beautifully. Once again, I’m pleasantly surprised by how bright and vibrant the colors are for a dye sub PBT set. Plus, I’m always a sucker for any kind of sublegends, they're a welcome addition in any set for me. I don’t usually use novelties in my builds, so I didn’t pick up the novelty kit for this set. However, the designs are stunning, and it’s clear that a lot of thought and effort went into them. For many, I’m sure the novelty kit is the main draw to this set. However, I can't comment any further on them. [image] As always, the blanks used for DCD keycaps are thick, high-quality, and offer a solid, full sound. They have a satisfying feel with a little bit of texture. The row markers printed within the caps are a welcome feature, especially for non-standard layouts or icon mods. The kitting in the base kit (and the coverage in the novelty kit) is extensive and I'm sure is enough cover the majority of layouts that you could ask for. For the price, especially Drop's preorder or sale pricing, I can highly recommend DCD keycaps for the quality. [image] In this keycap run, I didn’t notice any substantially offset legends, and there was no noticeable fading around the edges of the keycaps. If anything, the legends are printed quite close to the corners, but this placement is consistent throughout the set. Overall, beautiful set that I highly recommend.
